It was a tough year for us in Wyoming this year! Between 4 of us, this is the only buck taken. After pounding the hills looking for the super bucks for 8 days, I settled on this one. He was the best buck I saw on the hunt, the giant bucks out did me again.
27 inches, nice looking.

Geez, Brian. I'd trade ya a kidney for a buck like that. Spent $8,000 these past 2 years trying for something in the high 20's and still don't have a rack to show for it. Congrats an a nice trophy and the great memories that go with it.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-10-04 AT 07:36PM (MST)[p]Congradulations Brian, I am sure you and the guys had a great time up there...The horses and mules around here have had it very easy the last 2 years in regards to WY. Sure do miss that Wyoming High Country! Again, BIG TIME congrads....Dwayne Elam

LAST EDITED ON Oct-10-04 AT 10:31PM (MST)[p]Congratulations Brian for a successful hunt, I don't see anything wrong with that buck at all. Most guys would give their left "you know what" for a shot at him. Looks like "sunny" weather too!

Brian

P.S. Brian, is that that new Browning scope on your rifle??

Ya, I'm happy with the buck. Of course I had my hopes set higher for one of 2 other deer I saw, but they both vanished. This was the best buck I saw on the hunt. Seen him for 5 seconds Tuesday morning go into a stand of timber.
That evening, I waited and just before dark he stepped out just enough.

That Wyoming stuff sure is rugged!!! It kicked my butt!

PS - That is the Browning scope on my gun. Works well.

Thanks all!!!

Next up, Utah, then Colorado. Good luck everyone.

Sounds like another great trip. A great buck considering the conditions. Also a great way to break the ice before Utah and Colorado. Good luck on your upcoming hunts, you've already set the bar.

If that's what you had to "settle" for, would have loved to see the critter you were really wanted. That buck would have been a "no brainer" for me. Congrats!

Nice Buck, Brian. Don't be too concerned... You have one of the best websites in the world. You know those bucks are only going to give you a couple more cheaters or lenght, next year. And lastly, at least you didn't shoot a yearling.

THATs a DAMN nice buck to settle for...

Congratulations... I'll be watching for your UT and CO bucks.

Sounds like a great hunt. Congrats on a great buck. Sorry you didn't find the trophy this year. Good luck in UT and CO.

GOOD CHOICE.....

Geez Brian, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! I'd shoot that buck in a heartbeat, sounds like yer getting spoiled in Wyoming.

As if I would know, since *I* can't draw that tag, you dog!

Brian,

I don't think I would sound so disappointed. I like him. I didn't see the one you were chasing, but I still see nothing wrong with this guy.

Brian,
Looks like a nice respectable buck to settle on. :) Congrats!!! Did you get any video of the big boy that got away? Would love to see it if you do.

I'm not disappointed with this buck, heck, I feel lucky to have taken him. What's frustrating is that between 4 of us, we each hunted 11+ days, and this is the best buck seen. There was one other buck about the same width, heavier, with nice tines that I passed on day 2 of the hunt, but that's it.

We hunted our butts off and honestly expected that one of the 4 of us would be able to find a 30 incher----but no. This is the way hunts turn out more often than not, but every year it leaves me scratching my head wondering where the better buck went.

I'm happy with what I got, he'll make a great mount.
