Here is an amazing story about a dumb criminal and my Elk Antlers.

I was lucky enough do draw the LE Elk tag in 2001. I shot a desent 340 bull. I had a european mount done with the antlers. I have moved twice since then. The house i am currently in is a small small thing and they won't fit anywhere. I had no room so, stupid me, mounted them on the garage. I wondered as i was hanging them if someone would steal the antlers. well just a month ago i came home and they where gone. someone would have brought a latter and came on my property and took them right off the wall. Yea it was dumb of me to hang them outside, but come on!! how do people think they can come on my property and steal something of mine. That pisses me off. Well thinking i would never see them again i reported them stollen to the Cache County police just in case they came across anything. kicking myself i accepted them as gone forever. well two weeks ago i was bored and typed in a search on Ebay. To my suprise there was a listing that looked just like my bull. I compared pictures and without a doubt i knew they where mine. And i could prove it. Listed in Brigham City, Utah. 20 miles from here in Wellsville. I Called my detective and told him i found my antlers. He said great so everything is ok. I told him no, they are on ebay. Wow He listed them 3 weeks after he stole them. Well to make a long story short. I picked up my antlers 2 days ago from the detectives. They Busted BJ Barker in mantua, Utah. He just moved from Wellsville. Also many stollen items Including many stollen firearms. I'm told he will be in jail for quite some time. Wow crazy i have them back. I learned my leason and the antlers have been moved inside my brothers until i have room. Crazy Story

Glad you got your rack back......crap, I just wasted a poetic moment, anyway the whole thing is funny.

It never ceases to amaze me how dumb some criminals can get.A few years back, my boss had his house broken into and some guns and optics stolen. We have a sporting goods store in town and guess where the dirtbags came to hock the loot...........

Another lesson; Get serial numbers written down and documented of all firearms. cause you never now. i know i will be doing that cause i have nothing on my guns. firearms are a big item for thefts.

LET IT BE A VALUABLE LESSON!!!

ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO WHEN ALL THE HORN THIEVING STARTED I LOST SOME OLD WHITE RACKS & SOME FAIRLY NICE SHEDS!!!

REMEMBER ONE THING!!!

YOUR LADY IS WAY SAFER OUT IN THE YARD THAN A BIG SET OF HORNS!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

That is good that you found them. i would of never of thought that someone could be selling antlers on ebay! there has been some stolen horns of my friends but never found. what did you type up to bring up ANTLERS?

I bet it feels good to post his name in this forum... BJ Barker... I once had my car stolen in California and I had to retrieve it from the guys house. I never got a name and I also never got half of my stuff back. The Rancho Cucamonga Cops said they had to keep it as evidence...

GOod for you for cracking the case though!! Glad you got em' back and glad the dirtbag is in jail! WTG, man!

I had antlers stole from me last year. Turns out the thieve was hollowing them out and using them to move drugs. Some of my sets are now in Mexico, Vegas, LA wherever. Sad I walked that far to find them and then they just turned into a coke mule. haha

It was exactly a year ago today that this happened to me.

I'm not a paranoid/camera freak, I own a surveillance business, remember this when you read my story.

On November 21st, 2006 about 6:00 p.m. I went out into my garage to put some stuff into my truck when I noticed that the tile saw that I borrowed from a friend was missing from the corner of my garage. I was hoping that he came and got it, but he always calls if he was going to pick up his tools or if he was going to send someone over to pick them up. This tile saw was a MK-101, which costs over a thousand dollars, so I was really hoping that he came and got it.
I went into the kitchen and began looking at the surveillance system I have, I first brought up the camera in my garage, at 12:25 p.m. my wife came home and the tile saw was there. The garage door was open and at 1:02 p.m. two girls come into my garage and take the tile saw. My front door camera shows them hauling the saw off to their car which was parked on a busy road on the west side of my house. You can see the water being spilled out as they move towards their car.
My dive way camera I catch their car pulling up the street slowly with them looking right at my garage, they then turned around and you can see them driving back towards where my other camera caught them parked with their passenger car door open.
I decided to pull up my neighbor?s cameras that I put in last year; his driveway camera caught the car going up and down their street as well.
My shop camera also caught their car turning up my street and going back towards where they parked. This is five cameras that I caught them on.
I called the Pleasant Grove Police and told them what had happened, and they sent Officer Ormond over. I showed him all the different camera views that I got of them and also burned a CD for him to take with him.
The next day at work, I showed a few co-workers and we tried to figure out what kind of car it was. On the camera that I have facing my driveway, it has a zoom lens, so it showed a good picture of the car. This car was gray and was missing the front right hub cap, it was also missing the passenger side mirror and it had vents on the side along with the wheel wells covering the top part of the tires. It looked like a 1980 Ford Fremont to us.
This is when the story gets good. On Wednesday, I left work and had to make a few stops before I headed for home. While I was heading south on the freeway for home, I just came over the point of the mountain when I looked over at the car on my right and noticed that it looked very similar to the one that robbed me yesterday, I pulled up next to it and there were two girls inside and I immediately recognized them but I needed to be sure. I slowed down and got on the right side of the car to look at the front right hub cap to see if it was missing; sure enough it was, so I called Pleasant Grove Police department. They stayed on the phone with me until the Highway Patrol came on the phone and I stayed on the phone with them while I followed these two thieves down the freeway. They took the 8th north exit in Orem, so the High Patrol transferred me to the Orem police. I updated the Orem police about heading East on 8th north until the thieves decided to turn south on 530 East, which was a business complex. This is when I looked into my rear view mirror and noticed the lights of the Orem Police, so I pulled over as he went screaming by to pull over the car. They had picked a dead end to pull into with the Orem police behind them and me behind that car.
The police immediately separated the girls and began to question them. The Orem Police really didn't know what was going on from what I could tell, because they had to talk with me and ask what the girls had done. I could only read body language from the girls because I was in my truck and back behind the Police car. The first officer that came back to me, I told him my story. Three more police cars showed up and began to help questioning the girls.
The driver was very defiant at first and then when the officer told her that they were going to impound her car, she began to cry and got hysterical, this is when the officer handcuffed her and put her into his car. He went back to the car a few times and opened the door and yelled at her.
Again, I'm in my truck behind the cop car smiling the whole time whenever they looked at me. I even got my cell phone out and took some pictures of them handcuffing the driver. I was also calling family and friends and letting them know what had just happening.
The second girl was pretty upbeat and positive from what I could tell; she was smiling the whole time the officer was talking to her. This officer decided to come over and talk to me. I told him the story and he said, ?You have them both on video surveillance and can recognize them?? I told him yes. He then said ?Why am I then trying to get her to confess?? I told him I didn't know why he was doing that. He then went back and the composure of this gal changed immediately. You could tell that she knew she was had. About fifteen minutes later the officer came by and told me that the tile saw was at sportsman pawn in Midvale. I called my wife and had her lookup the phone number and called them. John from the pawnshop said that they had taken in a MK-101 tile saw, so I told him the story.
It was a little over and hour before the Pleasant Grove police showed up and out comes Officer Ormond, who had seen all the video and needed no explanation. He went over to the hysterical thief and the Orem police took his handcuffs off and Officer Ormond put his on her and put her into his car. He then went over to the other thief and put his cuffs on her and put her into his car. He then came over to me shaking his head; he couldn't believe that I ran into them. He said he was on his way to the County jail to check them in. I hope they had a very memorable Thanksgiving stay!!!!!

Just type in anything with antlers or horns. There are hundreds of mounts and antlers listed. Not many european mounts so it didn't take me long. He had also listed and sold a moose antler set which had three bullet holes in them in August, a saddle, and a range finder. I have no idea if these were stollen

Sorry, to hear that. There's nothing wrong with you wanting to put them on your garage. The problem is with the scum bags that seem to be mulitplying.
I am glad to hear of the outcome. I had my house broke into by the neighbor kids. They were arrested and we recovered most of our stuff excpet of course my riffles. A .22 and my 7mm.

those were two of the greatest stories I have ever heard regarding theives. It warms my heart to hear scum like that getting nailed!

Good for you fellers! 2 successes though out of the millions is kind of depressing. Lock your stuff up! I had a book or two stolen from me in college - but nothing bigger than that luckily. Stealing is a dirty filthy freaking low-life thing to do. Just one notch below poaching.

Hey patriot25 I also live in Wellsville, and had about 3 or 4 hundred dollars in change stole from my house, about the same time. Who can I call to find out what the police have collected from these idiots?

While in Wyoming this year I had a Wyoming resident back up to my truck and unload all my gear into his truck. I was parked on the side of a gravel road out of Afton when I walked up to him. He acted as if he was confused and loaded it back into my truck. I hate people that steal!
