What are the odds

I was hunting this evening on the extreme west side of the white tank mtns just west of Phoenix Az. My last stand was in the foot hills on the west side. I set up on a small hill over looking what I thought was some good country for yotes/bobcats. I started callin and heard a bigger sized animal off to my left in a small canyon/gullies type thing. I though maybe a deer or something was bedded down but I then heard what sounded to me like a roar or growl. I called for almost a half hour more and saw nothing. I know it wasnt the wind and I was very quiet getting to the stand. What do you all think the chances are that it was a lion? I never saw the thing (whatever it was).

Thre was lots of deer and coyote sign all over the place as well as rabbit sign. Thanks for your opinions, Brian

I'm thinking Sasquatch, not a lion. Either 'ol Bigfoot or possibly Old Three toes the killer Sunburned Grizz of the desert.

Probably just something sizing you up for a meal and decided to let you live this time. Nothing to worry about... ;-)

And you are positive it wasn't just Ed's gastric disturbances being overheard since he was hunkered down just around the hill from you.

I've heard some very hideous growl and screeting type noises coming from various orifices on his thong clad body.

Don't know what it was... ?? Call it in next time and find out.
