This fine shooting lady is my little sister, Dusty and myself guide for John Jaquez with SJRO, and she often cooks for John when he can get her to do the cooking. He was nice enough to supply us with horses, good horses too packed out 3 elk for us this year.
Dusty did a kick a.. job of running the camera. The whole story is 9 mile horseback ride in northern N.M. She was under instructions to keep shooting until he went down, even though Dusty was saying hold on, I kept saying one more time, take no chances with elk!
We were calling and the cows 'peeled' off of the herd and the bull followed after to round them up. She could not see the bull until she shot him, she was having trouble with the bi-pod, which was the reason for the cussing! Anyways it was a real action packed hunt and the video was unedited! First shot got him in the flank, the second two put him down, heart and lungs.
Her first elk hunt. John should have more pics of this hunt up on his website soon.
