Colorado Wolves Possibility?

I was just watching the news and they were talking about Rocky Mountain National Park, They were saying that a plan to start hunting elk with-in the park could start in January 2008, but 2 groups have filed lawsuits against it and are requesting that wolves are brought in to the park to manage the elk herds rather than the use of hunters!!!
I just want to hear what everyone has to say about this one?

I say that that the public hunters with out private land access are limited enough here in Colorado, we really don't need the competition with wolves!! Could you imagine the buffet wolves would have here in Colorado, it would be a disaster!!! I am totally against it!!

Work to hunt!! Live to hunt!! And the rest spent keeping the wife happy!!

I know the people I have talked to in Wyoming do not have anything good to say about wolves. They have impacted Wyoming wildlife beyond repair. The only way to repair the damage is to kill all wolves. Two years ago, my dad went on a bighorn sheep hunt in the Cody, WY area with an outfitter. To get to the area took miles of horseback riding. The outfitter told him they used to see 15 to 20 moose on the ride in, but since the reintroduction of wolves they do not any. I say keep the wolves out at all costs! The anti-hunters have found an angle to try and do away with hunting. If there are no animals to hunt, there is no reason for hunters.

Cast my vote for no wolves imported.

However, it is not a question of IF wolves come to Colorado, but when. They will keep exapanding their current range, and there is nothing we can do about it. That will eventually bring them into Colorado.

Wolves in this area would be a disaster. The park is much too small, and the surrounding area is far from the wilderness that wolves require. The area that suffers from too many elk is right in the town of Estes Park. Wolves would spread beyond the park's boundaries in short order, I'd even bet a wolf on a mission could cross the park's width inside of half a day. The park is surrounded by an ever-increasing human population and highly fractured wilderness. Dah? If it's not the wizards at the park service coming up with some million dollar elk sniping/slaughtering plan, it's the dang save-the-wolf crowd wanting to unleash some fury on the elk and a deer population that has seen far better days. Wow.

They are already there. 2 documented cases over the last several years.
Female roadkilled near Idaho Springs/I-70. She had a transmitter with a 'dead' battery identifying her as a Jellystone wolf.
And CDOW personnel with video of a wolf on a ranchers property (rancher called CDOW) near Walden, all verified.

Hey Jon, Hows it going?
Cant wait to shoot one someday!

All that I can say Hell no...... Just look at the problems that idaho is having with wolfs. In the near future the only big game that we will be hunting is the stinking wolf. Let there be a hunt to control the elk in the park.

When you let me in on some of your honey holes! Ha ha, LoL, I am just kidding.
Dude you are welcome down here anytime! We have room and I am off every other week so I am flexible. Archery deer (whities or mulies) opens tomorrow and goes to the end of January. You dont need to draw it is OTC. Am I tempting you yet? LOL
I go back to work tonight for a week but have all of Christmas week off, then 7 days, then 7 off and so on. I will be dusting the bow off here soon!

I'm pro big predators but I say no simply because the feds won't allow the wolf numbers to be controlled....Pass legislation that controls all big predators in every state before any more reintroduction is allowed... Lets do it right for once....

Theres a reason why they were all killed off in the first place, That was back when there was alot more livestock and wildlife to support a preadator like wolves, Now they want to reintroduce them when around here there is very few livestock, the deer are just starting to turn around and have some decent numbers and the elk are doing just fine. Reintroduce the wolf its not the first stupid thing that the YUPPIES have got done. Big preadators dont need protected their prey does, The state shouldnt gamble with our greatest resource, ITS WILDLIFE.
