We didn't have to shoot anything to enjoy this outing.

The trail was snowpacked but once you stepped off it was knee deep.

Just where Ken thought they'd be... Waiting for us. Too bad they heard us trying to slip in for a shot. We only got withing 250 yards but we became exposed and they bailed.

As for us... we were luckily enough to have the pleasure of hiking back through the snow for another 3 miles.

Wrong species. and now horns anyway. Later without camera, we did see three great bucks standing out in the open as if they knew deer season was over. Dang, they're smart!

Sounds like you guys had fun! That's what it's all about.

Ken and Gary are animals when it comes to hunting in the snow. I couldn't keep up and have never been so tired. I was glad it was the last day because it will take me at least a year to forget how hard of a hike it was to get there. We ended up seeing another bull but it was all broken up and only had one side. We also saw probably 50 moose on this trip.

This trip was absolutely beautiful if you like seeing animals and lots of snow. It was hoverer bitter cold and my water froze. If I stopped for just a few minutes I could feel the cold creeping into my boots and hands.

It told me on this day how fragile I really am and how hard it must be for these animals to live in their environment.

Archery is a year round sport!!

Thanks for joining me guys. It was a great day to be in the hills. I am threatening to get up there with the camera gear and get some good close up pics. I can't wait to hit the hills with you 2 again next year. Well get one of those pesky bulls eventually. Man I wonder how deep the snow is now up there.

Great pics.....those Wasatch Extended archery elk are tough with the snow conditions, I wish I could have been there as well. Alpine, with a moose in the freezer, where would you have put a big bull.......great times....

I am sure I could find someone's freezer to put it in. I would also consider donating it to the farmers and hunters feeding the hungry program. But elk or no elk it is a great time chasing them.

Good thing you guys didn't invite me along, those bulls would have been up and running the second we opened the truck door! LOL!

I was sitting in my truck that morning glassing, sipping coffee, listening to some good bluegrass all nice and comfortable, thinking I've lost nearly all faith that you can kill an elk on the Wasatch.

Cheers,
Pete
