Damn spring weather around the West. I'm working the weekend shift and have been doing some screwing around. How about some more coyote stuff? This should blow your skirt up Dawg. I built another page on the website with a little story and pictures of the call box I've built. Check it out if you like that sort of thing http://southwestadventures.tripod.com/predatoralbum/id5.html and let me know what you think.

It's hot and dry in the Grand Canyon state. Mid-20's in the morning when I go to work and mid-50's when I get home. I had some fellers from Salt Lake come and visit me today at work. Crazy suckers who plug high pressure (3000 psi) and temperature (1000 degrees) steam leaks at power plants. They said it's the same up there. How's the lion huntin' boys?

Well this is hell week for me boys. On call and can't do anything. I hope some of the rest of you will tell me a story before I go crazy.

Ed,

Judast dude,

I wish I had a good story to tell you. I spent the afternoon cleaning pheasants cuz the wife loves to eat those suckers.

I went pheasant hunting and screwed around all afternoon with my pa and my neighbor. It's spring at my place but winter out in the Basin. The thermometer in the truck said 43 going over Strawberry. By the time we hit the 3 Legged Dog saloon in Myton it was 4 degrees. Colder than a nun's caress out there!!

The birds were holding tight but we had three good dogs and so we were OK. Almost forgot how much I enjoy watching a good bird dog work. Helluva lot more exciting than watching a hound cold trail all morning on a hillside.

I may hunt a bit the next day or two, assuming I don't have to go back out to Roosevelt for a court appearance. How the hell was I supposed to know the pheasant hunt ended in November?

Hang in there and get this hell week over, we'll be hunting soon enough!!

It's been down right balmy around here too Ed. It seemed like last year we spent the whole winter at -20 or colder. But this year, I don't think we've had very many nights in the single digits, and none below zero. I ain't had to axe out my mule's water trough yet this year.

It's going to be a dry year again too. Hell, the snow is barely knee deep at 8,000 ft, normally there's 5 or 6 feet up there this time of the year. But that's no problem, with no water, we'll all have to drink beer! As long as they are getting enough snow in Golden, Colorado, I'll be happy :)

LAST EDITED ON Jan-21-03 AT 08:56AM (MST)[p]They damn well better be getting some snow up around Golden.. cause if their not... well.. lets just say my reason for existence will be OVER !

Balmy... you boys don't KNOW balmy !! Went and hunted the boot heel of NM Saturday must have been 80 degrees... and well... Dawg is right about one thing.... ok.. he's right about two things... first its damn hard to drink beer while riding a hay burner.. and second, those guys that can catch on them hot dry rocks are BAD A$$es !!!

Talk about an A$$ kicking... all I got were stoved up dogs and a wore out horse (which he deserved btw after pitching me off in a rock pile !) , I'm guessing he got tired of my drunk beligerent a$$ spilling beer all down his neck !

There was a gov't hunter up there from AZ though... he's caught four up there recently... Hell, if I wanted to catch one in them hot rocks.. I'd have to spend the winter and hope for one to stroll through camp... cause my dogs were hunting for nothing but shade by 11am !!

If we ever get some snow again on the mountain... maybe I'll giver another shot.. otherwise bear season is looking better and better all the time ;-)
