I have 8 resident points for colo. what would be a good unit for early or general rifle season. I dont care if I get a huge monster but a average 6x6 would be ok. what would you guys do?

One of the better public land tags that you could draw this coming year would be a unit 61 first season bull tag.

You're never gonna draw unit 61 with 8 points look into unit 76 and if you're willing to pay a tresspass fee look into unit 40

nonresident in unit 76 Colorado with 8 points should draw bow tag, looks like muzzle 12 plus, 1st rifle 10 plus points, 2,3 rifle maybe 9 points.

If you plan on putting and hopefully drawing unit 76 you better be in good shape because the country is rough and the elk stay high, like 12,000 ft high. Just as Rocket man he used to submit photos of elk from the area from august till I think september. Muzzle loader would be my first choice due to the snow possiblity in first rife.

Read his post again. He is a resident. With 8 points, he could have drawn basically any tag in unit 76. It is a 65/35 unit

In unit 61, he could have drawn a 2nd, 3rd or 4th season tag. It is an 80/20 unit.
