Utah Elk Draw?

I went online to submit for elk draw and it's asking me to buy a $65 yearly license. Anyone else get this when submitting??

I see that now and I'm sure I'll make use of that license...not. Great news is that resident prices went down!! Bad news is that I'm not a resident... :((

$65 is pretty cheap compared to most of the surrounding states. Arizona and Nevada are more than double that.

Bragabit, I know what you mean and I've calmed since my post!! :)) That is the first thing I thought about after was that AZ was more and also that I should feel blessed to have been able to hunt the other states that I have. Just hoping I can draw Utah before it becomes out of my reach...

Would be nice if half the people dropped out cause they didn't want to spend the 65.

Don,

Here is more food for thought. I have heard plenty of residents say they are not applying their uncles, brothers, nieces, aunts, and grandmas any more.

I think this mandatory license purchase is going to change things? Lets see how many guys have deep pockets or are willing to shell out hundreds to apply everyone?

I think your odds just got better?

Residents have to buy a 35 dollar license and non res 65 dollar license. Everyone needs to buy a license to apply. Utah is not just picking on the non res.

Good call about residences having to shell out as well.

I believe you will turn out right as well.

Good call on other states fees.

With less than 10 percent of the LE Elk tags going to nonresidents, the odds are ridiculous. But with that said, I'll be crossing my fingers and hoping to draw one year.

I sure wish those first few years of applications that I had applied for elk instead of deer, those extra points would be looking good about now.

Good luck in the lottery

As a 30 something resident with six points and counting, I can say that that it will more than likely take luck to draw in my lifetime, and then (if it even happens) its gonna be luck only after a waiting period to draw another limited entry tag EVER! They might as well just make these "once in a lifetime" hunts.

kts I am sure that will happen, and I am sure it will help my odds as a NR. I want to let guys know the number of apps vs tags just so they know it likely will take a long long time to draw. I am right in the middle with points so this will help, a lot, plus I hope to pull a rocky tag some day - this will really help my odds go from really really really dismall to really really dismall :)
