YOUTH HUNT HELP

My son Hunter will be 12 this year and I noticed they introduced a new area west and south of Vernal (white river to the Green River). The hunt is in Nov and I thought it might be a bit better chance at a bull than the other Youth hunt in Sept even though it is during the rut.

I would really like to hear some information about the Vernal area during Nov and if you think it is a decent hunt. I would like to just give him a decent chance at a bull. Any help on EITHER areas would GREATLY be appreciated. You can PM me or email me at [email protected] if that works better.

Thanks in advance!!!

trying to get answers to the same type of questions.im guessing that with only 15 tags this is a # the dwr feels the herd can afford to lose.i dont see them sending kids out in the field with little or no chance.these kids are our hunting future.we need to get them hooked on hunting now. what are the bulls like in this vernal area?

My son drew the September youth bull tag a few years ago, and we had a very nice hunt. PleaseDear aka Robb aka Bullelk1 was a huge help to us. He suggested some areas where we might find a better than raghorn bull, and boy was he ever correct. We had a nice hunt, and my son passed up shots at several brushheads, before finding a nice 300 class bull on our last day. He passed up a couple chances to shoot the bull, due to poor angle or being too close to other elk, etc. In the end, we came home without him shooting an elk, but had a great hunt and we both still talk about how much fun it was. Our thanks still go out to Robb for helping us so much!

I guess not too many people care to help out or they do not know anything.

Thanks CAelknuts!! I had yet to decide if I would do the September hunt or the later. We all know it is about the time in the woods and I am glad you had a great time!!!! Here is to hoping he draws one of them.

Thanks again
