AZ hunting licence

I mailed money for my AZ hunting license two weeks ago and still have not received it. Does anyone know how long it takes?

This paper application procedure seems pretty screwed up to me. You shouln't have to pay for a license twice to apply for elk and antelope.

The website said up to two weeks. I agree paying twice is absurd, the whole process this year is not the best. I mailed in only my elk, with the hopes of getting my license number by the deadline, then I would get in my antelope. If not, then I fork over money for another license. Just to wait for them to mail it right back to me.

wwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaa, wwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaa, wwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
All you here is b!tching about AZ and their process. READ the instructions, follow the rules, and QUIT WHINING!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-08 AT 10:11PM (MST)[p]For anyone living in Southern Utah you can buy your license from any of the Hurst sporting good stores. St.George, Hurricane and Cedar City

The best advice is to buy a license way before you apply for elk/antelope, then you'll have it. Then in June you'll use it again for the deer/sheep.

See, no problems!

They'll start selling licenses in September of '08 for the '09 draws. Course they might also have the bugs worked out of the online draw and will start selling you guys licenses over the Internet again.

Then you'll get to apply online for just $10 and the flipping odds will increase again!

Good luck!

Don

Took just about a week for mine, ordered in around Dec 23 and had it by Jan 2.

I just got the order form Monday in the mail for the Proc.

I have already entered the app 2 weeks ago so now just working on the Colorado and Montana apps.

Quick question can I apply for my general license and apply for my elk at the same time without a license number?Or will I need my general license first?I do not apply for antelope.
Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Jan-16-08 AT 09:33AM (MST)[p]Warbird,

You can apply with no license but must include the payment for it with the application. -TONY

Thanks that is what I was told but just wanted to check one more time before I sent my application in.

I was going to buy a licence and apply early for spring turkey back in Dec (or something like that), but I really couldn't find any guidance on how to apply--they didn't even have the 2008 forms or anything. I thought it was pretty lame then, and I don't see any reason to change my mind. It probably makes some sense if you know the system, but I have never been lucky enough to draw in AZ.

They publish how to apply in the regulations. Its not a section on the website.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-08 AT 09:55AM (MST)[p]Nonresidents can find all they need to apply for a permit on the AZ G&FD web site. As I had mentioned in another thread a while back, questions here about purchasing a NR license without having to include payment for more than one species prompted me to call AZG&F.

When I explained the problem, they quickly agreed and said they would soon post a NR license application online that could be printed and mailed with payment to obtain a license before applying for one or more permits. That application is now online (see below).

Under that link are three others -- one for the elk/antelope regulations, one for the main regulation booklet and another to download the actual permit application, which basically remains the same from year to year for any limited permit hunts, both spring and fall. -TONY

Nonresident Hunt-Fish License, Regulation Order Form

Nonresidents can download this form to mail order for hunting and fishing licenses, hunting regulations, special use stamps, and nonpermit hunt tags. Residents can use this form too, but may find it easier to obtain these items at Department offices and more than 300 license dealers statewide. Note that this form is not for use in applying for the big game draw. Instead, use the Hunt Permit Tag Application form available for download on the big game draw information web page.

Which is the correct address to send
HUNT PERMIT-TAG/LICENSE APPLICATION FORMS?
Arizona Game and Fish Department,
Drawing Section,P.O.Box 52002,
Phoenix,Az 85072-2002
Or
The new address?
Arizona Game and Fish Department,IEFC,
5000 West Carefree Highway
Phoenix,Az 85086 They are listing this as the new address but is this for licenses and non-permit tags only?
If I am reading this correct in the rules book I would still use the top address I have listed just wanted to make sure this was the address to use.
Thanks.

from the first page in the regs:

The Arizona Game and Fish Department Moved The Arizona Game and Fish Department
relocated its headquarters to 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85086.
Draw applications can be dropped off at the new headquarters building or any regional

If you look above at the Elk and Antelope regs it is listing to send your application to the address with the drawing section in Pheonix. If you need a license only and are applying for non-big game tags you send it to the new address.NEVER MIND I WILL CALL THEM MONDAY and ask them the correct address to send my application for my general license and elk just to be correct on this.
Thanks anyway

Its been three weeks, still haven't got the license. I did get a letter this week saying that we can apply for elk and antelope tags now. I wonder if I mailed it to wrong place?

gundog,
Call this Customer Service Section you should have your general license by now. This is the Customer Service Section at (602)942-3000.

Warbird,

Well I've spent several dollars on my cell phone and time at work trying to call AFGD to find out where my license money went (3 weeks ago). Option 3 on the telephone answering machine, for licenses, sent me to a guy that was unavailable. This afternoon, the same answering machine tells me that options to purchase licenses by phone (or online) has been permanently discontinued--I don't deserve to talk to a real human.

What a flippin joke.

Gundog,
I dont know what to tell you but you should have your license by now.I found out you send it to the P.O BOX 52002 DRAWING SECTION if you want to apply for your general license and apply for the elk permit at the same time.Hope you get your license in time to apply.
Good luck on getting your license soon.

After getting jerked around all day, I finally learned that if you applied for a license through the AZFG draw section, they won't send a license until the permits are issued. If you go back to the information we had to apply for 2008 spring turkey last year or 2008 elk and antelope at the beginning of the application period (early January), there was no way to understand how to do this correctly. Obviously, some of the other MM readers knew what they were doing. I will know where to go if I have a question next time.

Obviously AZFG was not prepared to deal with NR applications when they took the online system down last year.

It is very clearly stated in the regulations that if you apply without a license you will need to apply for a license on all of your applications and submit the fee. You will then be mailed ON license and a refund for any others after the draw has been complete.
