Ok I had on conversation with a mentor of mine this past weekend. We set up a scenario where we all became Bill Gates with unlimited resources.

Question: You are an absolute elk fanatic. A guide that is totally legit, no possee of mullett headed freaks in pink shirts, no finders fees, no chute planes none of any of this, has called and has a 420 inch bull scouted. It will be a hard hike in to a rough drainage and you will be a hunter not a trigger puller. WHAT WOULD YOU PAY???

Part one of the scenario

PART 2 TO BE CONTINUED

7 what?? $7.00 $700.00 $7000.00 stop me, the numbers go to infinity!! We can go for seven for a long fricken time here.

CAT you are an inch fool, hell you wouldn't even need to poke that can with the stick with the nail on the end to get r done financially on this bull. HOW MUCH???

THE YEAR IS 2010!!!

YOU GIVE HIM A DOWN PAYMENT OF 1.5 MILLION!!!

THE REST TO BE PAID WHEN YOU PULL THE TRIGGER!!!

YOU PULL THE TRIGGER,REACH INTO YOUR POCKET & PULL YOUR BIG BULL MEASURING TAPE OUT!!!

YOU WALK UP TO THE BULL & HE MEASURES 279"!!!

THIS IS A WORLD RECORD BOOK BULL IN 2010!!!

YOU PAY THE GUIDE THE OTHER .5 MILLION!!!

AND WHAT ONCE WAS A PISSCUTTER IS NOW A RECORD BOOK BULL!!!

THIS IS MY NEW GUN,YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT,YOU'LL LIKE IT A HELL OF A LOT LESS WHEN IT HITS ITS DESTINATION!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

Market price. Why pay more? In that scenerio, I could afford $1,000,000 but why would I?

That is making the assumption that all of the money goes to the outfitter, not some elk project charity.

What is market price? Depends on when the call came.

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

If I could get the tag I would do my own scouting and would go DIY even if I was rich! The tag is where the real question is.

That is a lot of fricken cans CAT good thing you are now C Gates instead of C whatever.

OK we got the CAT for a cool 2 mill

TX is thinking that he is sitting at Red Lobster wanting to know what " market price is " on a Tail.

JB has no idea what he is in for..... 7 something

well I got last nights CSI on TiVo so I'll check back in the morning

Why wouldn't you just buy 30,000 acres in prime elk country in MT and shoot good bulls every year and when you're too old to hunt, sell it for 5 times what you paid for it? All that hunting and you made tons of money. Or just buy ranches in Utah, New Mexico, Arizona etc. Dont pi$$ your money away on making someone else rich. Call Ted Turner, he knows.

If you are that rich than you always need a good tax right off Utah is a good state for that. I would bid like Austin Powers and say 1 million dollars with my pinky all jack up like his.

If my competitor says 1 million and 1 than I would say ?give me a fregin break 1 billion dollars? and then take a seat, all because I like giving to charities that help out the big game. After I won the tag I would still hire the guides so they can help out where needed.

This is a pipe dream of a question!

Back to reality! I will be hunting an open bull unit in 08 with a bow. If I get lucky enough to see a frigin elk I will attempted to put an arrow in it. Don?t care if it is a frigin cow or a bull. If I succeed I will have to pack it out on my sweaty back. If I get real lucky I might have shot it in a canyon that I can legally get a few poor mans pack stock into "pack goats". If I can than my back will be less sweaty and I will enjoy the pack out a lot better.

My final answer is one Billion dollars.

I will bit ww.

In your scenerio, I pay nothing. I am no longer an elk freak and I just became a mule deer freak. I am busy this time of year hunting the Henry Mountains with my statewide deer tag.
