Unit 2B NM January archerey

Any of you guys out there have experiance with this hunt? I would appreciate hearing how your hunt went and were you hunted. I scouted this past weekend during the rifle hunt and will go up again, but want all the advice I can get. Thanks and good shoot'n!

I have been lucky enough to draw this tag a couple of times. It seems more recently the hunt dates have been moved to later Jan. and that has taken it pretty much out of the rut. The hunt, as far as hunting for true trophies, was much better a few years ago. However if you are not stuck on getting a 28+ incher you should see lots and lots of deer, plenty of average bucks, and should have a fair opportunity to get a buck. What are you looking for and where will you be concentrating your efforts?

Where are you from, I live in Aztec. I spend a lot of time on weekends looking at Deer/ELk. Have some good areas that hold large bucks. Mainly sagebrush flats. email me.

I am looking for a good hunt and any legal deer I take with bow is a trophy, so don't need a 30" to feel succesful. I have been scouting up in the north western part of the national forest, but would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks!

I finally drew that hunt , was actually there yesterday , my buddy drew this last rifle hunt . We saw close to 50 or so deer , one 4x4 that he missed at 60 yards (still killing me) and all the rest were forks and does . We saw one real tall 3x3 big bidied buck a guy from AZ got , real nice deer . Seems like a big majority of guys just road hunt up there , trucks and atvs driving all day long , but they were klling deer . I really like the lower area before Carracas Mesa , and I hear Gas Buggy can be good in Jan. I hope to make ay least a couple more trips before the Jan hunt , but probly wait till Dec , so the herds can calm down , they were super spooked this this past weekend.....NMhuntnutt

You saw the same as we did. People driving roads with guys and kids hanging over the bed with Budweiser in the back. Sad! I hiked all over the Bancos mesa and Middle Mesa. Alot of deer, but few nice bucks. Saw a couple nice ones taken though, but no monsters. Thanks, maybe we can exchange notes. Will be cold in January!
