LAST EDITED ON Jan-27-08 AT 07:12PM (MST) by browtine (moderator)[p]My brother & I just got it done. It is our dad's 2002 Colorado bull, his first. It was shot about 100 yards from my bull this year. We mounted it on a replica skull.

very nice....thanks for sharing the pics with us..was it a 'surprise' for your pops?

Got the skull and epoxy to form around the skull plate from a van dykes taxidermy catalog. We made the wood mount.

We had told him we were going to do it for his birthday. We knew there was no way to get the rack out of his house, otherwise. I think he was a little surprised how well it turned out.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-08 AT 12:37PM (MST)[p]Great looking Euro for sure.

...but if you'd have used a "Skull Krazy" repro skull, you'd have all the teeth and an authentic looking skull ;-)

Looks like it turned out good!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-08 AT 05:16PM (MST)[p]I had heard they made them that way now. Couldn't find one anywhere, so went with this one. It would have looked better with that type of repro skull. Do you know where to get them?

It really does look great Jim...i was just "pluggin" my skull business in fun.

You did an excellent job getting the antlers on straight, i'd like to see how you did it.....my skulls are for sheds, but it's VERY complex and tough to do.

The guy that bleached my elk skull had some repro deer skulls he had done, using sheds. They look pretty good too. He is the one that said they make repro skulls with the teeth, just couldn't find one for deer or elk. My brother has a nice whitetail rack we will do next. Would like to find a skull w/ teeth for it.

Getting the antlers to appear straight was tough. His right side g1 curves in & right beam curves back more than the left. Took some time to get it to look decent. We ended up putting a couple wood blocks under the skull plate to help hold it where we wanted, screwed that down, then put on the epoxy.
