Just curious what you guys think this bull would score. The pics are from last early summer and his points still had a little growing to do. I am guessing him at 380+ What do you think?

You will never kill a big one if you continue to kill the small ones.

I could be wrong, but that doesn't look like a 'high fence' bull to me. Looks like a 'wild' elk in farmland, but I don't know the 'story' behind this solid bull.

Sorry I didn't mean to offend you in any way. Apparently people are very sensitive here. I am just curious because this bull continues to grow every year and I am wondering what he would score. Many people enjoy watching this bull throughout the year. Next time I will warn you before you look.

Prout. The bull lives in a beautiful little
park called willow in the Cache Valley.
He isn't very spooky, he usually stays
within 100 yards of a main road.

This bull shed last night.
Here are some measurements, don't know what inside spread they used.

Score; 405 4/8
66 7/8 mass
64 and 63 1/8 main beams
24 5/8 and 25 1/8 swords

He is 12 years old. Last year antlers were scored right at 400.

Fenced or not, thats a nice bull. Doesn't mean people need to put the person down for posting. Toughboy - I'm sure the elk doesn't care and neither should you...its a frickin animal! My horses are fenced and don't complain when they get their flake of hay twice a day and 5 lbs of grain.

nice picture...

No, they just left them laying inside the pen and then guessed on a score.
Sorry,
Yes this elk is in Cache Counties Zoo/Park. They have an educational center on site, They have a display with this bull's sheds from each year.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-28-08 AT 00:15AM (MST)[p]I am by far no expert on scoring but normally am within 10 inches or so and I cannot see that bull scoring over 380. Please critique my scoring on this one I want to get better. This is what I came up with

MB 56
G1 18
G2 19
G3 10
G4 23
G5 12

H1 8 1/2
H2 7
H3 7
H4 6

Spread 44

With that doubled for the opposite side along with the spread I am guessing I am coming up with 377. I may be way off so please if you are getting anything drastically different please let me know I WANT TO LEARN!!!

I do not have access or was not invlved in the scoring. There are a couple of avid elk hunters that work for Logan city that I imagined scored the bull. I believe one of them shot a 380+ bull last year on the San Juan. I have confidence they know what they are doing. I simply passed on some info sent to me via e-mail, as the original post was questioning a score for this bull. He very well could be 370 or 400, However, IMO the bull was 390+ before he shed, Again it is simply a guess as I never held the antlers. Check your guesses against what the folks say they recorded and that will give you an idea where the discrepancies are.

That's one nice bull. Whatever he scores it is MOOcho.

I have watched this bull grow over the years. I take my kids to Willow Park at least a few times each year. It doesn't surprise me that this bull is at 400". I would have guessed around 390.

Probably a neat thing for someone to see (who has never saw an elk in the wild). I think its a neat exhibit.

It takes one hell of a long beam to make 400" on terribly short 3rd's like this old boy has, gorgeous bull!!
