LAST EDITED ON Nov-10-04 AT 08:18AM (MST)[p]It took me 3 years before I finally got this tag... ;-) I hunted 4 days before I connected with this buck. I hunted the same area where I had been seeing a lot of does, hoping that a good buck would show himself before the hunt was over.

One shot from the new 280 with a 140 grain accubond put him down for good. I was not to impressed with the performace of the accubonds either. I'm pretty sure that a Ballistic tip would have done less damage. It took me about 8 hours and two trips to get him out of the hole I shot him in, but I think he was worth it. ;-) Saw some monster bucks on the hunt, one that would have easily tipped the 210 mark as a typ, but alass no tag... My father-in-law also tipped over a 180 net buck on the same hunt. Tell me what you think he'll score.

Awesome buck BBS! Glad you were able to finally get your tag and connect on a great buck. It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures but just a guess on his score would be around 195" gross? A shooter for sure!

Congratulations man and thanks for sharing the pictures!

Awesome buck, congrats!!! That's one to be proud of. I would guess him around the 185-195 mark gross.

That's a way solid buck. I'd guess him in the upper 180's but I really don't care about score. He's a shooter. And why did you cut off his tail when you gutted him?

Great looking buck Bambi! I think he scores higher than what the others have said.... 204.

Congrats!!! Great job on a super deep forked buck! Easy 200+ with the extras I'd say...

Great buck Bambi....LOL....seriously great job. I think he is a 200" plus buck with the trash, regardless he is a shooter for sure......glad your hunt went that well..... Allen Taylor......

Great buck..Congratulations!
I will throw out a guess of 200 Non-typical gross.
This time of year sometimes it pays to catch the early rutting bucks and does.
Thanks for sharing your success with us.
Best,
Jerry

It took you two trips and 8 hours to get him out? I would gladly take all winter to pack out a buck like that! Congratulations!

Steve

Great buck!!! He'll score around 190" gross, and net around 183"! Which unit did you hunt? which season?

Wow, he is tall. Big body too. Did he have a lot of fat on his back?
I shot one with a little thicker rack, not as big though, he had that type of body with very little fat. Yours looks like it could be from around eagle/vail/gypsum area. Am I close?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-04 AT 07:47AM (MST)[p]You're close... He came from the Colorado Springs/Pueblo/Craig/Motnrose area... I think ;) I will tell you he didn't come from the Vail area though... If I remember right... :) He was really fat. I would guess that he dressed probably about 300# or so. The hind quarters and the back straps was about all I could handle in one trip.

You guys all guessed pretty close. Gross is 208 non-typ. He has a 190 gross typ frame and nets about 180ish... He also has about 5" of scoreable points on the burrs. The "big" side grosses about 104, the small is 81 and he has a 23" inside spread and with a 26" outside...

Thanks for the Congrats guys... Still on Cloud nine!

Here's another look.

hey Curt, get rolling and get those pics uploaded...show all of us some of that "Kremmling Mass"...he's not gonna be the widest or highest scoring rack here at MM, but he's a critter I'd be darn proud of...pics boy, pics!!!

Awesome deer! He looks like he is a young deer, did you look at his teeth? I might say woodland park/Fariplay area..Congrats and thanks for posting. Jeff
