Congrats k, that is a nice buck. I don't know why, but I love looking at "bucks in the truck," or "bucks on the back of a wheeler" pics. They rock!

Thanks Jeff,
This is my Colorado third season unit 10 buck. Never found a monster but I'm happy with him and had a great hunt. Looked at well over a hundred bucks and even passed this one up the day before I killed him. Couldn't do it twice. Him and one other nearly identical buck, were the best typical bucks I found. Passed a 180 class non-typical the first day, 6-7 on one side 7-8 on the other, heavy, but only as wide as his ears. Got this one the fourth day, he was just to pretty and symetrical to let go again, allthough the bucks were really starting to get after the does. He is just shy of 26" outside and I'd say right near 170. Haven't taped him out yet. I would like to thank everyone who contacted me with information on unit 10 on this site prior to the hunt. Also, if anyone wants more information from me on this hunt, feel free to contact me. I'd be more than happy to tell all I know. Oh, one other thing, with nearly all the quality hunts being draw hunts, why can't you guys give up the units you are killing your deer in. Seems to be a bit of a bragging board for some. Come on guys.
Thanks again,
Ken M.

Nice buck Ken! Very symmetrical for sure. Nice mass too. Congrats on a fine buck.

Oats,
I drew with 11 pts, my dad did not draw with 10. Colorado residents I talked to said it took them 9.

Great job on a classy looking buck!

As far as giving up the unit info, lets just say there are many units out there in COland with big bucks that are there for the taking with some serious scouting and research that arent the exclusive, high preference point draw units. And the people that consistently take nice bucks in those units want to keep it that way. :)

Ridgetop,
I understand that, I'm not pointing the finger at everybody. I think most of Colorado's units are putting out some nice bucks right now. Just shows that hunting pressure was a big factor in trophy production, since they went to all draw hunts. My point is to the ones that say they took 4 or more points to draw and still dont give up a unit number. I dont think giving up that information on this forum is going to raise the number of points it takes to draw these units. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. Just my 2 cents.

Friggin ATVer's killing all the good bucks! ;-) ;-) :p

Thats a great looking buck! See you had your buddy along too! Sweet!

Ridgetop made a great point, check out my 3rd season buck. Kmur your buck is well worth the time it took to draw that tag, but next time around you won't have to wait nearly that long. My e-mail address is [email protected] if you have any questions.

Nice buck,

I think you under-estimate the amount of attention that is brought on by these forums...

Congrats

OSOK,
That may be true and I really should have worded it differently. The point I was trying to make is a lot more prevalent in Arizona and Utah's LE elk hunts. These hunts are basically once in a lifetime and still some won't give the unit numbers.
Ken M.

kmur~ I do see what you're saying, but I agree with OSOK that there are a lot more folks visiting here looking for exactly such specific info than you might think. In some units, even a relatively small increase in the number of applicants could make the wait substantially (years)longer to draw a specific tag.

Congratulations Ken, on a nice buck. I love the look of a real symmetrical buck. I was hoping I could ask ya a few questions on the unit. My dad and I have been putting in for the unit for a couple years now. I can just shoot ya an e-mail, if that would be easiest for ya.

Just let me know.

Thanks, and congrats on a nice buck.

Nice Buck! That country looks awesome! Where about in Colorado were you hunting?

Thanks,

Mike

very nice....i wouldn't have waited till i saw him 'the second time'.....congratulations, and thanks for postin' it DK..

Ken,

Great job on your buck! You had a great year with your bull as well. Best of luck in the future and thanks for sharing your hunt with me as I wasn't lucky enough to get over there this year.

Rick

Great buck..Congratulations.
Sounds like you had a great time and had a lot of bucks to choose from.
Sharing unit info on limited areas usually gets some guy's peaved because they think it will add to there time waiting to draw them. I guess it could cause a few more guy's to put in for that area....but usually most back out before they earn enough points in the first place and hunt other areas that they still have a decent shot at a good buck.
Thanks for sharing you hunt with us and continued success.
Best,
Jerry

I'd be happy to answer anyone's questions. I had plenty of help from others here and I'm more than happy to return the favor. I had no idea the internet could be such a good scouting tool until this year. Just shoot me an e-mail.
