Hello Fellow Addicts of monster muleys it is me bigbull hunter and i have some cool info for you all. I was out doing some Yote hunting this last weekend and was seeing a lot of fresh sign in the area i was hunting. So i go and get my hopes up and set up a stuffed snowshoe hare i got last year and started doing some squeeling followed by some yote howls. this got the attention of one young coyote who managed to come in but hung up at about 150 yards out he sat down and the wait was on i waited a half hour for him to come in and sniff the stupid rabbit and turn around and haul a#$ i thought maybe the wind shifted but another hunter was looking at the same one and winded him. long story short i was out this morning and tried something new i bought a 50 pound bag of dry dog food and some castor oil hauled it out to my spot and dumped the whole bag in a pile and proceeded to put castor oil on the dog food. I then took off for about two hours and was glassing another area that looked promising when i started to hear some howling going on about 2 miles behind me ( about where i left the food and castor oil) i drove back to find 6 yotes feasting on my concoction i took 3 of them but wasnt quick enough to get the other 3 after i came back i was glassing the area again and found 2 foxes coming in to the bait like a steaming freight train i did get the 2 foxes after shooting about 10 times but it was worth it. heres the recipe:

take a 40-55 lb bag of dog food (try nutra care)
buy 2 quarts of castor oil ( dont drink it or you will be sick)
go to a favorite hunting area and set up in open place where you can see from a good point of view.
put dog food down first then generously pour the castor oil on top of the dog food it will soak in ( it might smell god awful but it works)this will work great for those of you who are trapping.

This sounds great, but where in the heck did you come up with an idea like that? I'll have to give it a try and see what I can come up with. Thanks!

I hope that works for you.......

What a waste of good dog food, A good 50 lb bag only lasts me a couple of days. Well, come to think of it I'm probably just wasting the stuff too. Just at a faster rate. Just think, if I took all the bags of dog food I bought last year and dumped them with castor oil, how many bears I could have got. Starting to sound like a good idea. ;-) You may be on to something.

I'm with you af, maybe I could haul a bag of Old Roy full of once through dog food, pour caster oil on it and have them come in? Of course anyone packing a Johnny Stewart caller knows what packing a bag of dog food is like.

I prefer the squawk box and in 15 minutes the barrel is warm or it's not.

Hey guy, thanks for the information. You must have dense predator densities to get that many coming to the bait. Go get them before they eat the whole bag.

Sounds intersting to say the least. I think I'll give it a whirl this upcoming weekend. Thanks. By the way....what exactly were you thinking? LOL

Have used dog food for years for bears, and works great. Get cheapest from Sam's or Cosco (about $9 a bag, lots of chicken and greasey) and add a gallon of discount maple syrup. Mix all and put in the barrel with an 8 inch hole. This will have them lining up for their turns, and lasts a while. We have used catnip on a hanging feather for bobcats also.
