The body on this guy was huge. Luckily there was a road only yards away. ;-)

mtmiller, don't tell me that bruiser came from Havre, MT!? My brother use to live in Havre... and they don't grow them like that up there (besides there a not mtns)!

Congrats! Very nice buck (love the mass)!

?Where's the best place to hit a big bodied deer?

Right next to the road!!

Congratulations on a nice buck.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-12-04 AT 01:32PM (MST)[p]Thats perfect. Good job!

By the way, if any of you have been following my hardluck story, that is just about exact of the deer I lost this fall. Mine flaired just a hair more in front than that one. What a nice deer. I'm happily jealous for you. ; ) I guessed a solid 180, have you green scored yours yet? Again, Congrats!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-12-04 AT 01:40PM (MST)[p]What do you mean there are no mountains near Havre. The Bears Paw Mts. are 10 miles south of town. Big elk and deer in there as well.

Thanks for the compliments all.

Oh yeh, he greened at 183".

Great looking buck MT, thats a great looking typical! Nice hat to...

U call the Bear Paws Mts. mountains!? :) Just kidding... I was only up there a couple times to visit my bro, so didn't get a real good feel for the area. I just remember it being relatively flat and lonely. Again... congrats on taking a beaut!

Craig,

That really is a spectacular looking deer! You should post the side view pics of him also. Really shows of the great mass he carries!!!

Congrats, Bud.

Is that Montana? you didn't answer the question, and you don't have to, but are you serious about a road being nearby? You could of fooled me that looks like it's miles from a road, or were you being sarcastic. Beautiful buck!

Here is a side shot. Kinda missed the top of one of the points, but that is how it goes with a timer sometimes.

As for where the deer was killed, he was from MT, and I can see the mountain where he was shot from my house.

Hey Craig, you got the surplus woolies like I got!! Sweet. That means maybe I can kill a big buck too!

Congrats, that thing is a pig. Did you say somewhere that he has 40 inches of mass. Wow!

No woolies, sorry. 40" of mass, you bet. Because of that he scored better than what I first thought. Still smiling. Yesterdays hunt was successful as well, but can't beat chasing the ones with horns.

Nice ones!

Did you happen to go to school in Bozeman during the early 80's?

Cheers,
Pete

Not me, didn't make it to the promised land until '98. Don't tell me there is another ugly bastage out there looking like me.

mtmiller,

Nice one! Seeing all these hogs from other states I start to wonder, but you've given us Montanan's faith in getting some big ones here.

The Bear Paws are private, no?

Gotta love Havre and those Blue Ponies. Haven't been up there in about 3 years but its a great town. Have you ever hunted along the Milk up past Fresno res?

Thanks for sharing a picture of your deer. How will he be mounted?

Congrats on a an awesome looking buck.
Love the mass and the dark antlers.
Great picture!

That looks like a great buck, and the mass is expceptional. Was he rutting pretty good? I only ask, as the bucks were rutting pretty heavily just south of where it appears you shot your deer.

Anyway, if you would like to see some pictures of other muleys shot in and immediately adjacent to the Bear Paws send me a personal email and I will shoot some your way.
