Just got the news that MattB, a MM regular, got a big buck this afternoon but cut himself really bad while skinning it. I was hunting with both Matt and his brother Steve this past week. They went home to hunt their own hidey holes yesterday. Here's a post of Steve's that I cut and paste from a local forum.
"Well mattb and i went hunting this morning it was warm and not to much moving i spotted a nice buck but could not get a shot. I was hunting some spots we have found some decent sheds on and matt was hunting his favorite spot when i heard 3 quick shots thinking it was matt i started to hunt in his direction and i came upon a horriable scene. i was walking along and i heard some one call my name and it was matt and he told me he killed a monster but while skinning it his knife slipped and stabbed into his leg!!! well when i found him he was really pale and could not walk so i ran as fast as i could to get my truck to get him to a docter. well we made it home called the ambulence i took matt to meet them and i think the docter said he severed his arterie in his leg, i felt sick but i knew my bro would be fine well he is now off to kelowna and i went out to get his deer i found out just how big it is imagine dana's deer from this year but add like 30 more inches of mass lol. well just to let you all know i think matt will be fine but i am not to sure so please keep him in your minds and please all be safe out there."
Please keep Matt in your thoughts and prayers.

Sure will. Be careful out there guys. I have heard of this happening more than once with a bad ending. Congrats on the buck.

BCBOY,
If you talk to matt please tell him Ernesto and Greg wish him a fast recovery and i'll keep him in my prayers. Tell him congrats on the buck too.

Cant wait to see the pics!

I heard a story about a young guide doing that same thing and dying as he sat next to his nice bull. They didn't find him for two days! Everyone.....BE CAREFUL with your knife...and broadheads if you are bow hunting!

Good Luck on a fast recovery Matt!

Thank the Lord his brother came checking on him and got him to the hospital. Hope everything is going well. Sounds like an awesome buck as well. Be careful out there boys, we only get one ride with this "E" ride ticket.

The family and I are praying for you Matt. BCboy, way to help him out in a bad situation....... Allen Taylor......

I guess Matt went through surgery well and will be back at home tommorrow. I'm glad he's OK and that his bother was there to get him out of the bush. Lookin' forward to hearing more of the story and see pics of his buck.

Hope Matt heals soon. Similar thing happened to me two years ago. Lucky for me I had no severed arteries or cut tendons just several stitches. Ya'll be careful.

Glad to hear everything turned out OK... Hopefully he can get to doing better soon. I'm sure wrapping his hands around those antlers won't hurt any either...

also glad to hear that Matt is doing well and will be home soon. I could only image what he went through. Since he is doing better we better see a picture of this monster buck!!!!

What a terrible experience! I'm happy to hear it turned out somewhat okay. He is very lucky his brother was there to help him. It could have gotten real bad real quick. Keep us posted and tell him congrats from The Chef.

Ok, so here is a question. . . would you trade in the stab wound for the 30 incher you shot?

If anyone has a knife, Ill stab myself for a buck over 30".
