Cougar hunting

Did anyone else in Washington see the new changes in the Cougar Season, and the new regs. Holy Moly. That would have been a fun one to explain to the game warden. Ignorance would not have been good. I had thought about carrying my gun with me this week just in case I ran inot one of those bad boys. Thank God I was dinking over in the WDFW site.

I've seen and read the new cougar regs, but I don't understand what is keeping you from carrying a gun this week. Cougar season is open to anybody with a tag.

Bob D,
According to following story, cougar season closes this week for rifle hunters without dogs in certain counties except for archery and muzzleloader hunters until Dec.1. After that is is hounds only by permit. At least that is the way I read it.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-04 AT 02:22PM (MST)[p]I read it the same way you did, but he was talking about hunting this week, with a gun, and that would be legal since the last day of the season is Friday. If he has a cougar tag he is ok to hunt cougars this week with "any legal weapon" regardless of whether he has a archery or modern firearm deer tag.

Here in California we don't have to worry about all the new changes to the cougar season. It's never open. So I guess you know what that means.......:)
