Wyoming Elk Draws

Mine says the same, but I already had 2 points so it does not seem as if it is updated.

Fly:

Did you only have 1 point going into the draw? I just checked, and my point total is 2, the same as I had coming into the draw.

I guess I am trying to establish if they updated the point totals of some people, which if the point total increased, they didn't draw. Would that mean something different for those who did not have a change in their point totals.

Damn, I have a hard time waiting for draw results. Personal problem, I know.

I just got off the phone with WG&F and the results won't be available until Wed. Feb. 27 at 8:00 am.

Ive checked mine twice today, both times it say's " unable to find your records", but when I do a preference point search I have my points that I had going into the draw..

The only reason I want to know is so I can submit my Moose and sheep app in the same area I draw...but since the deadline is the 25th I guess I will just have to trust to luck...

im going to crack up before wensday at 8:00!!

2 reasons that you still have the same points as when you went in:

1)They haven't posted the results yet
2)This would only apply if the results were posted-If you did like me, I opted to not take the automatic preference and wait to buy the point later if unsuccessful. That way if I do draw I don't have to wait for the $50 refund

nochawk,

The deadline for moose and sheep is the 29th. You'll have plenty of time to get the results for elk and apply online for moose and sheep. Good luck to you!

Sorry Boys,
My bad. I saw the 2008 points listed and figured they did the draw. We already have 2 points now. Sorry for the excitment. I hate waiting.

Thanks for saving me the call I was about to make, Nail. The results of my son's application will help me decide whether I will also burn my 9 moose points this year (or not).

Nochawk - don't go on MY word, but my records show the 28th as being the deadline for both moose and sheep.

I drew also, but didn't want to. I hate it when other things come up, but now I will have to go to Wyoming and chase 350+ bulls around during the rut.

BACK TO BACK JACK!!!!

2 years in a Row!

Plus a refund coming for about $330 as I didn't draw my Reduced Cow tag and $$$ for a point on the LQ appl..

I just love chasing Wyoming elk!

Congrats all

Robb

No draw for bull elk in WY again. Makes 9 years in a row that I have not drawn. Last time was in 1999.

Hope I have better luck in CO this year.

Good luck to those that did.

Scout:

That is a bummer. I finally drew this year, after applying for eleven previous years, with no tag to show for it. I hope you draw next year.

Nothing for me. Long shot so I expected as much. Really thought I would buck the odds and get lucky. I guess if I'm going to get lucky I would rather have it happen in Utah though. At least I know that I will draw a tag in WY sometime in my lifetime.

I drew! First LE elk tag of any kind in 22 years of trying on and off. I'm nearly speachless.

Cheers,
Pete

No wonder you are always ornery Pete!;-)

Good luck!

I did not draw. Did not apply. I am sick of big stinky elk for awhile.:)

No tags for our group...

Good luck on your hunts to all of you who drew and good luck to all of you who have not yet checked your results!

notta on area 7 for me, but interestingly enough I show 4 preference points (not bad for 3 yrs of applying!)

"Successful on Unit 7, looks like it is a popular area?"

Hope you enjoy company...public land is a zoo but there is a lot of great private stuff if you can afford it...

No it will not. I think there were more guys during rifle than archery. I am not kidding. There are good/great bulls in this area but lots are on private and get pushed there by people scouting before the season opens.
Good luck

I went with a friend last year in Unit 7 the last weekend of bow and later in the rifle. We had more hunters in the bow than rifle however we didn't get far off the road. We did see much more game during bow than rifle which seems to be a consistant story as the early pressure drives them off the public. We were hunting both public and private and found that you needed some private ground more so during the rifle at least in the area we went.
We went 0 for 3 in the draw this year.
Anyone look at the "points going into 2008" report on the Hunting page on the G&F website? Something seems very strange unless I'm totally not understanding it. It shows like 31000 non-residents with points and like 25 or so residents with points. This would imply that almost all residents alway draw which seems impossible. When you look at the draw results for unit 7 for instance lots of Residents don't draw. I'm assuming you don't loose your points if you draw a 2nd choice so anyone else figure out what the charts mean? I must be missing something as all the back years show the same. Anyone have a clue what these charts mean. I'm a NR and was hoping to draw within a few years but the numbers look much worse that I would have guessed.

There is no preference point system for residents for elk, deer, antelope or mountain goat. Only sheep and moose.

Quick question...how long does it take WY Fish and game to get refunds back to us?? I would imagine since I used a check card that they would just credit electronically??

broomer,
archery season was a zoo on public land last year... late rifle was the least crowded I saw...

LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-08 AT 10:34PM (MST)[p]I usually get mine just before or just after I apply for Colorado so ballparking it, it'll be late March.

On second thought, thats right before or after I apply for Wy deer so mid-March.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-03-08 AT 07:53PM (MST)[p]I had 4 people apply in my family (3 drew) and got one check back today for my son - $10 refund for his preference point. Funny thing is he drew yet the check came with a letter saying he didn't draw. Online it says Successful and the point fee came back, not the tag fee. I remember this happending last year, where Wyo. sent that letter with all checks no matter point check or license refund check. I figured they would have fixed it this year. I'll bet the G&F gets ALOT of calls when people see those letters!
