OK... I tried it my way and came up empty. My 13A tag will be worthless soon and who knows when I'll get to hunt the strip again. Sooooooo, I am now looking for a last minute guide that will assist me this last weekend. Since this is short notice and we are working on a last minute basis I am appealing to this audience for help in hooking me up with someone to help me find a big'un. Probably best if the guide has been working the unit this year.

Not sure how to link my email or phone # to this post but leave one for me and I'll call/mail ASAP.

Thanks!

Dave

Try Alvy Johnson of Johnson Brothers Guide Service. Seen him in town yesterday . Maybe he's available. 928-643-7622 . He knows that unit as well as anybody.

Thanks for the quick replies!!! Keep 'em coming please. I left a message with Johnson Bros.

Kinda feel stupid about the last minute deal but I came back from my hunt and a check was in the mailbox that I was not expecting, hence, I am now in the market to hire somebody that I previously had no means to do :)

Call Chris Denham 480-857-3057.....he will know if Steve Stayner or someone is available. Hope you find someone...... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

If you have trouble getting the Johnson Bros. to help you, you might want to try Brec Bundy. I don't know his personal number because it is unlisted but you can find out from his parents Roger or Cindy at 435-673-2918 how to get a hold of him or if he is busy guiding someone. He spends more time out on the strip than anybody I know besides myself, and he is a great guy.

fin little, sweeeeeeeeet! I'm jealous. Good luck! Hope you get a monster! My uncle should be down there too but I have to work. Be safe.

I have Steve & Ralph Stayners numbers. They know the strip like it was their own backyard.
Steve's cell# 602-549-0844
Ralph's cell# 602-738-4612.
You can also leave an email at www.sageantlers.com
Good luck!

I would suggest calling Clay Bundy at 435-680-2991. They had several hunters on the strip this year and took 4 bucks all over 190. They know the country as well as anyone and are great guys to hunt with.

I just returned last night from 13A and Brady Dupke guided a friend of mine to a 212 buck 32 1/2 inch. You might call him as he is home now and knows the strip as well as just about anyone. 480-963-5902

Call Dale & Jean Weinhold today 928-758-2525. He's planning to go on an elk hunt in unit 10 but I know he doesn't really want to go and could be persuaded to pull off for a Strip tag. They know the Strip as well as the others mentioned here, they're just a bit more quiet about it. Bonus is they have a home in the unit area and can be setup within hours on short notice. Good luck, we're heading out the door for the Kaibab.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-18-04 AT 09:06AM (MST)[p]I know that you can call Larry Bundy, he had 4 hunters on 13b and they killed 4 good bucks. A 33" 200+ net typical, a 185 net 5x5, a 30" 3 point, and another really good 4 point. He spends a lot of time out there and knows that place better than anyone. You can get him at 435-628-8312. I have pictures of the big typical and 5x5 if you want me to send them to you. But don't wait to long.

I had a great hunt even though I did not tag a buck. On the last afternoon of the hunt I passed on a 32 inch 4X4 that was estimated to gross about 185. A beautiful buck for sure but just not quite what I was after. The friendliness and generousity shown to me was phenomenal. Thanks to all of you who replied to my requests, those that helped with maps and tips, those that I spent time in the field with and those of you wishing me well. I hope I will be able to help others in the future much in the way I rec'd help with this hunt.

Well I can't argue with you on that one :) I am crazy about getting the big one so much so that I have let a few dandy's keep on hoofin'. Anyway, at least I don't have any regrets so far. My huntin buddies tell me I should be carrying a camera instead of a rifle. They're wrong but I can't fault their thinking as I haven't given them much evidence to the contrary. Bottom line, I had a great hunt, enjoyed the heck out of myself and will continue chasing the "dream". It's fun being a little crazy. Thanks for your all your cents/sense.
