Received these two pictures from "dwalton" of the Elk his wife bagged this past season in Nevada. Congrats to the wife Dave and enjoy the steaks too.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. This was one of those hunts where everything worked out. Due to a job change, I didn't have any time to scout the area. I went out looking the morning before the hunt. Took the wrong road in the dark, drove into the wrong place (according to a friend's directions), and stumbled into lots of elk. This herd watered in a pond directly behind my wife and bedded in an area of deep sage. I found a much larger bull about 20 miles to the north (the right place), but I also ran into lots of other hunters and camps. I decided to hunt the low country where I found the elk and no other hunters. We sneaked into the area in the dark, and when the sun came up the elk were in the same spot as where I found them the previous morning. A couple of shots, and my wife's hunt was over. She'd waited 14 years for the tag, and was really happy with her bull. Not the biggest bull in the area, but when you're hunting with kids there's such a thing as "big enough". I'd say I'm a pretty lucky man to have a hunt like this in my memory book!

Best of luck to all in the 2008 draws!

Big congrats to your wife Dave, she did great and it looks like the rest of the family had a ball also... Devlin

Dave,
Congrats again to your wife on the nice Bull, any idea what that Bull will measure out to be? Doesn't really matter, still a nice Bull.
One of these years I hope to draw there in NV too but so does a lot of other NR hunters as well as Residents.

Brian

Dave,

After your sheep and your Mrs's bull I'm sure the old taxidermy bill is climbing high. I still love those wide open elk. Congradulations again, have you drawn out for anything this year yet?

Robbie

Congratulations Dave. That's a very nice bull your wife shot.

That country looks very similar to where my buddy shot his muzzleloader bull in October, flat and just sage brush. Of course, your wife's bull is bigger! My buddy missed a bull about the size of your wife's, and then shot a smaller 6 pt. a few days later.

She did great, way to go Waltons!

Congratulations to your wife and you! looks like you had a great hunt and things worked out well in spite of the hectic schedule. That's one hunt all of you will look back on fondly!Enjoy!

Awesome bull and hunt Dave. The smiles on those faces says it all. I'm no elk expert but I'd be happy as heck with a bull like that. Congrats to your wife and entire family.
