Grunted in a few more (photos)

I was out looking for whitetails again today but was again having no luck so switched to photographing muleys. I was trying to grunt in a 4 point but he was circling me to get my wind and eventually got it. He was a little too far out to get decent photos but I did get a couple and was able to crop them a bit. When he left I looked behind me and saw two more bucks coming in. The one looked pretty good so when they went behind a ridge I moved to a location where the wind was better. The bigger buck came over the ridge first and started heading my direction. It looked like he would pass on my left about 20-30 yards away which would be perfect for photos. He changed direction slightly and came right at me. The brush was too thick and I could only see his head and antlers. He was getting too close and there was too much brush in the way for photos so when he was at 20 yards I grunted to stop him and raised up on my knees. I figured I would try and get the best photo I could. I had to manually focus through a bush that was in between me and him ( that is why his face is unclear). The photo turned out pretty good but if the bush had not been there it would have been awesome. He trotted away a bit but I was able to grunt at him and get him to stop so I could take a couple more photos. He eventually circled me and got my wind. I was able to get a couple more photos as he circled. I also photographed the smaller buck that was with him. He was pissed and looking for a fight.

The first buck in the story. He looks like he might have injured his right eye.

Here is the little guy with the big guy. He was really pissed and looking to kick my butt. I had to focus between branches in between us and that is why the photo is so blurry except for the deer.

Awesome photos again. Great to see some more of your work, it's inspirational and certainly gives me something to shoot for. Thanks again for sharing and good luck with the rest of the season.

Fantastic, you definatley have "the eye."

Curious, what are you using to grunt with on muley's.?

I grunted in a 190 class buck this weekend and 2 lil forkies to within 10 feet. Its a blast when they are really into the rut and dont really care bout humans.Nice pics!!

I was just using a Quaker Boy grunt call that is usually used for whitetails. It seems to be a little deeper than most of the mule deer I have heard grunt but they don't seem to mind.
