I am not sure if it is the same, but there is a big high fence ranch out there that has 400 inch bulls. HIGH FENCE. They buy the bulls from farms and put them in a field..

Like I said, this may not be the same one.

No they are not high fenced hunts, Its Brad Horrocks, his son Josh dose most of the guideing, and they have leased most of the privte land on the Dimond Mnt LE unit.

They do well, they have even killed a few 360 bulls the last few years.

I Dont know what Robiland is talking about, there are no High Fenced hunting opperations around here that I know of, I know there are a couple small ranchs with a few elk but there not selling them to be shot, that I know of(I could be wrong).

I know their outfit very well. They have killed a few good bulls, but their average is nothing special. From what I hear most of their hunters just want to shoot something out of the truck, so if you are willing to get out and hike, the chances of 320+ are probably good.

I am looking for a 350 or better bull is this a place that has this type of elk ????

Thanks

There may be one or two 350 bulls or better on Horrock's place but it is the exception and not the rule. There are some good bulls on Diamond and the more you pay for private land the better your chances are but don't expect it to be a smorgasborg of big bulls. If you see a 350 bull up there you better take it.

Agreed - I would not tell anyone to "expect" to kill a 350" bull on the Diamond Mtn Unit. Not that they arent there - but I wouldnt set my hopes that high.

Yes there is a high fence ranch out there. I have met the guy who raises the elk on his ranch by Fairview. He will periodically sell his big bulls to a ranch out by Vernal. (Now I am not sure that it is right there by Vernal, but he sold a 4 year old bull that was taped in the high 400, like 480ish. Yes they are steroid bulls.) He says the elk eat anything and everything they feed them.

Do they guide deer also? I have enough points for a deer tag on Diamond for next year. What size deer have they killed? Prices?

There is a high fence hunting place near Tabiona.

As Roy and others said, plan on a 320 bull but feel good if you luck into one of the few 350 class bulls.

MOST bucks are <24" 160 class bucks. The aforementioned outfitter had a family member kill a dandy buck late in the hunt, only after they filled all of their clients with low 20" bucks. Seems like a slap in the face to a client spending lots of $$$$, This buck had been watched all summer long, so I was told. NOT like he just miraculously showed up at the end of the hunt. Believe what you want there.

bone, I know for a fact that the buck you are reffering to was killed the first weekend (I think first day) of the Rifle season, and yes he was watched all summer long, but what dose that have to do with a family member who is not involved with the guideing end of the busness, watching him all summer long and then killing him.

How is that a slap in the face, what because he is related he cant scout out a big buck and kill it, you make it sound as if they are out to screw there hunters.

I belive thats low of you to spew BS about something you dont even know the basic facts about.

Jake H.

FYI--The kid that shot it was a guide.

Some guided hunters saw the buck in the morning and told they could not shoot it.
After ditching the guided hunters, they shot the buck.

Quit being so nieve.

If you are going to guide hunters, seems to me you kind of have to put your clients first, that is if you want to keep business. But that is just my opinion. I sure as hell wouldnt book a hunt with an outfitter who is going to guide me to a dink while they tkae the cream for themselves. That is why I am a DIY hunter.

ANYONE that wants to hunt Diamond Mountain, DO IT YOURSELF. It is easy to hunt. Get a landownership map and hunt all the public land you want.If someone gives you crap for being on public land, call a UDWR officer. Don't waste your money on an outfitter on Diamond Mountain.. Might as well throw it in the wind.

I was told a muzzy hunter was told he couldn't shoot the buck either. I don't think he guided this year because he was in wyoming hunting deer this year also but he has guided in the past. Kind of low to do to your hunters in my opinion.
