Name that Elk Country

Sometimes in Bugle Magazine in between the pages containing wildflower laden vistas, photos of youth watching newborn elk calves with binoculars, and stories about unsuccessful cow elk hunts ;-)... They post a photo of some elk country and ask where it is. Anybody recognize this elk country?

Its either Montana, Wyoming or maybe Idaho

Looks to me like maybe southeastern Idaho. Looks like familar territory to me but just guessing. Killed my bull moose in an area that looks almost identical to that pic. But it could be Northern, Utah. Beautiful anyhow.

Pushing 30 knows his elk country. The first photo was taken facing south, this one was taken facing north. The elk had been in the mahoganies you can see on the end the ridge I was on.

That is easy. It is looking south towards Montpelier reservoir, the creek in the botton would be the head waters of Montpelier creek where little Beaver Creek comes in. The North looking picture would be looking towards Meades Peak.

I did save the first picture as my background. I wish I had a dollar for every time I have traveled that dirt road. Actually I wish I could go back to the day when I hated traveling that dirt road. I wouldn't trade my childhood of spending summers on Crow Creek or in that area for anything, I was pretty lucky.
Oh by the way I think Elk Country is a pretty good description.

The first one of yours appears to be Daniels Canyon looking southeast and the 2nd photo appears to be Johnson's reservoir looking south?

Yep, I would say that's pretty close! However...I was looking southwest at Johnson's!!! I knew the Bench would give Daniel's away, however, you probably would've got it without the Bench smack dab in the middle of the picture anyways...
