WA. Late Buck

Here's the deer I ended up taking on the late hunt here in WA. My dad and I saw a lot of decent bucks the first week but not anything worth takin'. I actually talked my dad out of shooting two different deer that weekend that ended up being the two biggest we saw. Figured the last week would be better, but as luck would have it....it was FOGGY all 4 days we had up there that second weekend.

We literally had an hour on Saturday afternoon where the fog lifted to maybe 200yds visability. We decided lets go see if we can get lucky, cause my dad was not going home without meat. His woman would have killed him. Not 20 minutes later he had his deer. My cousin helped him get it back so I could hunt some more as the fog was already rolling back in.

I told myself I was still gonna hold out for at least a 4pt. but 15 minutes later I had this deer standing 75 yards from me as the fog was getting worse. We stood there for at least 5 minutes starring at each other until I finally decided to end my hunt.

They are not the bucks we set out for, and not the biggest we saw, but when you and your dad got two bucks hanging side by side on the last day of a tough hunt, you don't really care, cause we just love to hunt period!:)

Here's my dad and I with mine....sorry for the poor quality.:)

This is maybe and hour and a half later when we got em' back. As you can see the fog was back. And never left by the way.

Congratulations, those are a couple of nice WA bucks. How wide is yours? The body on yours looks pretty big.
What late permit hunt did you get drawn for?
Good Job.

Thanks guys...he was right at 22 inches and ya he was pretty heavy. Diffenetly a migratory buck, just about a year away from being really nice. It was taken in the Chiwawa unit.

Sometimes things don't work out like we plan, sounds like you had a good time with your dad though, and got a couple of decent bucks, congrats.

A job well done. You both hunted hard and came home with some nice bucks. I hunted 6 days on the late whitetail hunt in 204.
To make a long story short, All the big bucks we saw were on private property . I did have the opportunity to get a quick look at 2 shooters, but I'm a rookie whitetail hunter. Those puppies were gone in a flash, rut or no rut. It was a nice to see some new counntry. My 2 partners ended up shooting 2 does. I had the many chances at does, but wanted a nice buck. Anyway,
thats hunting! Nice job on your hunt!

What part of 204 did you wind up hunting? I was over at my "sweet spot" the day after Thanksgiving and stuck a nice 3 pt. about 30-40 minutes into my hunt. The buck that I was after last year (140 class then) showed up the next day when I went up to retrieve my treestand. This year he is a nice 4x4 and pushing 145+. Damn the luck anyway!

I ended up in the Mount Hull area. I should have taken more time and took a good look at the areas you showed me. It was a great hunt, and I did have a couple of decent opportunities. Man there was some nice bucks in the wheat fields! I need to make some realationships over there. I'm thinking about going over for turkey and bring some Sitka halibut and see where that might lead. I don't blame the farmers. They didn't know me from jack.
The only thing they pretty much knew is we were coasties!!!!! lol
