Okay anyone want to share some insight as to why the Monroe Elk Tag went for $30k last night at the SLC RMEF dinner? The Pahvant Elk Tag only went for $28k and the Premium San Juan went for $31K.

Whose seen the bull that they must be going after on the Monroe? I am thinking someone is sitting on a big bull on the Monroe.

I has more to do with who is bidding than what is there.
Pretty sure they got screwed on that deal.
Cass is the only person i know that sees 400" bulls on the Monroe on a regular basis.

How many BIG bulls was taken out of there last year, I heard about a couple of Monsters that was taken out the Monroe/Dutton area that was close to that 400 mark, So are you saying that there isn't any Bulls that are close to the same size as the other two places, Me I like the SJ because I know the area better and they do Have some Huge Bulls.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-08 AT 03:40PM (MST)[p]I guessed when I saw what was spent for the 1 tag on the Monroe and what a deal the other units went for, I was reading into it that there must be a big bull on the Monroe for it to have been bid above the pahvant and nearly equal to the Premium San Juan Tag...

I'm with you, cs. Sounds like another case of catalog elk shopping by our high dollar guides. Take pics of a huge elk, send pics to clients and tell them how high it scores, client pays huge dollars, flies in, kills elk. I'd bet there is a certain elk that they have in mind with that tag.

I didn't intend to post such a sharp comment I should have previewed it before I posted. Anyway, he's a local and wanted the tag so he went after it. It also helps to have a prospect up and coming this year to hunt!

DVC,

Thanks for the intel. I was just wondering if the Pahvant and San Juan had been shot out.

not really great intel, just trying to clear up any negativity to could have been spun on the buyer!

Things are all starting to come together now.

Coloradooak, great memory. I was thinking about this post yesterday after reading all the hoopla. What an outstanding animal. Look forward to the video and magazine article.

The guy who bought the tag was a local and I don't think he knew of this bull, but maybe whoever run him up had some insight? Who knows?
