Just recieved the antlerless elk proposals from the DWR. There are alot more permits being proposed. Everyone that has an interest in the elk needs to go over their favorite hunting area and check out the numbers. If you see or believe that the numbers are right or wrong and would like to have your view point heard, contact your RAC rep. in your region and let them know what you think. I personally have some concerns in the Central Region-- especially in regards to the length and area of the hunt and the pressure it puts on our fragile deer herds in some areas during the winter. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for posting the link, I guess?? I looked at the area I play in and I just don't get it. I can't even pretend to understand the numbers there going with again in this unit?

Thanks for the link. I am confused, which most people who know me claim is my normal mental state. I believe Utah does not do population trend counts on every unit every year, but the info on pages 6 and 7 show population "estimates" for three consecutive years on all units. Where are those numbers coming from? If they are some kind of computer generated data based on infrequent actual trend counts, I would be extremely nervous about issuing more than 10,000 antlerless permits based on those numbers.
After looking at some of the numbers for units that are substantially below management objective, it does appear we sent some of our Oregon people to help you poor Utahan's with managing your elk herds. I think sending me an LE bull tag would be the appropriate way to say thank you.

I sure am shocked that they would do this type slaughter back-to-back years....penquin..
They already cut the LE bow-bull tags for this years draw in that unit...
That screwed up my whole plan to have a little $ide bet-$$ with 'Pro...' on his LE bow bull unit tag vs my LE bow bull unit tag but they cut the tags on mine so no tag is coming to me!
