Watch out for deer thieves

I feel bad for the guy. But who would leave a deer in the back of there truck for 4 hours. That is just asking to have someone steal it.

Ditto"!!!!!!!

Feel bad for the dude. It is sad that we live in a society where people will steal anything. But he should have known better than to leave a nice buck like that in the back of a truck for four hours.

Talked to some bowhunters years ago in NM. They had a book bull elk hanging by their tent on the forest service road. I told them to hide it. They just left it there with no one in camp. They were very lucky that it didn't leave on its own.(with a bit of help)

I never leave mine exposed. Show it to those who need to see it and keep it hidden other than that.

But what a pathetic person to steal a head.

Kids grandpa lost a 5x5 bull he killed with his ML and it was hidden in camp behind the wall tent and covered. They stole everything of his.
Another friend lost all the meat that was hanging in camp from a bull.
Brothers boss had someone break his window of his truck and steal his horns while he was helping his friend get his out. The truck was parked along a highway and the guys where brave enough to do this in broad daylight with hunters up on the hill.
I have carried mine around and when I leave the truck i put up front and cover them while on the floor board of the passenger side.
To bad for the guy that lost them horns hopefully he will get them back.

What a loser or losers who would steal a head. They are probably the type to hang it on the wall and claim they shot it.

It just goes to show one has to hide and/or lock things up to keep the honest people honest and keep possession of your belongings. I don't fault the guy for leaving the head in the back of his truck, I don't know the story or care to. The problem is the one who saw the head in the back of the truck, chose to walk over and pull it from the bed, and take it away from its rightful owner. He is the only one to blame.

major bummer ,,, and just think if they catch the guy that did it they'll call him a "Hunter" on the news ,,,, its this kind of crap that we dont need ,,, that persons not a hunter ,,, just a thief ,,,

It does seem people will steal anything now adays. I actually had a dead coyote stolen out of the back of my truck. I left it in there over night before skinning it and somebody stole it. I have no idea why somebody would want a dead coyote. They were only worth 10-15 bucks at the time. I definately won't leave a deer head unatended in the back of the truck. I hope this guy gets his head back.

I can relate. Two years ago I was hunting by myself and tagged a large 5X5 in Twisp while hunting with a permit I tapplied 7 years for. After tagging and dragging out the front half of the buck, knowing there was no way I would be able to do the heavier half second, I went back for the lower half. It took me about an hour to hike back up, and drag the lower half down. When I got back, I had found that someone had come by and sawed off the antlers at the scull, just below the burrs. Not only was I pissed this had happened, I was looking at 7 more years of applying before I get that tag agian, on average. At least I got the meat, but I could have harvested a doe if all I wanted was meat. This happened in an hours time so be carefull out there with your trophies. Live and learn..................rf

While I personally dont know the kid in the pics, one of my co-workers had that 128/129 tag this year as well and was hunting along with Aaron and had actually passed up that particular buck earlier in the hunt. Hope he gets his buck returned to him.
