Poached bull in Santaquin?

I took my son turkey hunting up Santaquin pole on Wednesday morning and came across an elk carcass. It was a bull with the antlers cut-off. It had been there for a while and quite stinky. I don't know if it was winter kill or poached, but it was alarming none the less. It was right in the middle of a road so it seemed kind of funny.

Has anyone else out there seen this?

Found 4 dead bulls while out shed hunting. One had his rack cut off, the other two, could not find the heads anywhere and the fourth one a buddy of mine found, it still had the rack on it, (about a 300 class bull). These bulls were in a very remote area and I did not see any fresh human tracks around while out shed hunting the area so I'm not going to assume anything but it does suck to see these bulls dead.
