All I can say is one thing. Thank you Primos!!! :)

I guess the last 10 months I've spent watching bubba channel network, did some good. When this boy stepped out we were having a tough time deciding on whether he was 5 1/2 or 6 1/2. ;)

Gross main frame is 189 w/ approximately 11 inches of extra. 25"+ main beams w/ nearly 44" of mass.

Thanks for looking.

What a brute! Congrats on a mighty fine whitetail.

Way to go bud, slammer buck.....for a rat deer. :) Man, if the boys at Realtree could only see you now. Congratualtions on a fine buck.

Way to go Trent. Man what an amazing buck. I guess you are going to leave the muleys alone and only chase whiteys. ;-)

Nice job OSOK. That's one less vermin whitetail we have to worry about moving south into our muley habitat! :)

Seriously, that is a dandy buck!

Congratulations!

GREAT BUCK! I've been hunting whitetail for 50 years and have never killed anything approaching 200 inches. that deer is more rare than a 20 year old virgin. Which state?

Thanks,

I'm still in shock. Maybe reality will set in when I get back from cloud 9. I jokingly asked my buddy as we got settled into the stand for the morning. OK, find me a 180 buck to shoot! :)

When we killed this dink dawg rat, we had no idea what we really had. I was thinking mid to high 170's gross. I won't even say what Kyle thought it would go! ;) Every time we would go back to look at him he would grow. Opposite of ground shrikage I guess... After 3 days of deliberation, w/ finally decided to throw the tape on him. We had ended up coming real close to what he actually was, but it took 3 days to get there... Unfortunately he broke approximately 2" off of his right G-4 which would have sollidified his chances at being a double all time B&C booker. As we speak he's on the cusp of nontypical all time at 191+ net green.

As far as a state, he was shot near no tellum creek! :)

They say these things are tough to hunt, as well as being smart... 3 time ever chasing them, and I've never seen anything ever come in on a string as this one did, or the 140+ my buddy shot from the same stand the following morning. Couldn't have scripted a better hunt, than the way this one happened.

That is one heck of a whitetail. Nice mass and great everything. Thanks for the pics

Congrats OSOK on a heeeyooge buck! Story? Primos? Do a little calling did ya? Man, how big a one does it take for you crack a smile? :) I think my face would still have a permanently frozen grin...

Ridge,

LOL. Actually I have a few other pics where I'm smiling. Unfortunately my buddy either chopped off the face of the deer or the top of my head, so I thought these were the best for the deers sake. :)

Now, if he was the mule deer equivalent, things might be different! ;)

Wow, that is awesome. That second pic expression is quite interesting though, I guess thats the face a true muley hunter has when he kills a stupid whitetail! hehehe

LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-04 AT 12:41PM (MST)[p]Trent,

Great Buck, You ought to share that Dinky Dog with our friends on Realtree.

Awesome whitie, dude!!!
Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention, but I think this is the first pic I've seen of OSOK. I pictured somebody that looked like Shrek ;-).

What do you mean? He does look like Shrek... :)

WTG thats a super buck. Jacky Bushman would be real proud of your gooood buck. ;)

You know what they say about pictures... ;)

Bambi can attest to the fact that I'm much uglier in person! :)

Ya, if one of you guys feel up too posting this thing over on Real Tight it wouldn't be any skin off my back.

Thanks

Don't get too big of head there OSOK. I didn't say you looked BETTER than Shrek, I just said you look DIFFERENT than Shrek :D

GOOD JOB DUDE...What state eastern Co..?...I passed on a whity very simular in Sask Canada two weeks ago I'm really sorry I did now!!!...

Manny15, was the tag for either a muley or a white tail? If so then I totally understand you passing up the white tail. :)

No sense in settling!

Trent,
WTF are you shooting one of those rat deer for? :) All I can say is WOW!! What a Gagger!!! Congrats Big Time!!! I too like the expression on your face. LOL! Only a hard core muley nut would have a look of disgust and disdain after hammering a monster like that. :):) I'm still in good standing over at realtight so I may just post these over there just to see their reactions. Only whiteys shot over there that are of the caliber of your buck come from the Canadian boys in Sask.

Nice job, awesome buck, guess you must have moved on from the eastern CO mulies =). Should call him curly! Jeff

Great mass, great buck. What's the story of the hunt? What did you take him with?
Congratulations.

Thanks guys,

Ya, I'm going to have to do something about the camera operator next time. The only pics he caught me smiling, he also chopped off the face of the deer or the top of my head... The pain/face you're seeing in the pic comes from the fact that I was probably grumbling about the fact and telling him to hurry up and take the pic, as my arms were getting frikin tired from holding up his heavy azzed head throughout the 45 minute photo session! Trust me you hold that thing up for that amount of time, and you come to appreciate just how much "MASS" he really has!

I guess I'll run down the jist of the story. It's probably going to be kinda long, so sit back and open up a can of your favority "POP".

The piece of property that we hunt is owned by my life long best friends grandmother. It's a fairly small piece of land, w/ really only 17 acres of it being the prime stuff that we hunt. It is situated on a 90 degree elbow on "No tellum" river. The deer really like this area as there is a big thick nasty island in the river at this elbow as well as the river itself just being what we all who dream about bucks like this would just sit back and say, man there's gotta be big boys in them trees. His grandmothers ground consists of thick CRP which these deer often use for a bedding area, as well as several acres of trees that boundary the river. 80 yards from the tree line, the relation who normally has hunted this ground throughout the years has set up a leaning tower of pizza 4 legged shooting platform that is approximately 15 feet high w/ a 6' x 6' plank platform...

We got into the stand a few minutes later than I had wanted opening morning. It was already close to shooting light. Man, it was a cold 12 damp degrees that morning... The night prior we had decided to hunt together, as we have so often before in order to share this experience together, eventhough full well knowing I would be the only one shooting a deer opening morning. I want to thank Kyle and his grandma for being so gracious as to let me have this opportunity. With out a friend like him, this dream could have never been fullfilled...

I jokingly said to Kyle, OK find me a 180 buck! To understand the humor of saying that I would have too get into a book to explain just why I said those words. We both chuckled and got settled into what we thought would be a long wait, possibly days! We had been on stand for about and hour and a half when we finally heard some shots in the distance. We still hadn't seen any deer, but w/ that in hand we figured the deer must finally be moving. Man, our feet were getting cold. OK, here's were you guys that wanna be in the know will get your answer to the question! We were sitting there and I asked Kyle, do you think I should pull that call out of my fanny pack and give it a try? Sure why not he answers, it can't hurt anything... Prior to leaving before the hunt, I was talking w/ Bambistew about whity hunting. He also eluded to the fact that I had better take a call and even rattlers, as he and his buddy have had good luck and calling bucks in... The night before we left I made a stop by sportsmans, picked my way through all the different calls with no idea of which to buy. Then I remembered the Primos 6 in 1 advertisement on the Outdoor network! What the heck, I see them guys wack a boat load of deer, and I actually enjoy watching his show. So I pick on up...

I give it a couple of blows on the Doe Estrus setting.... Take my sweet time taking the thing apart, w/ frozen fingers it was actually tougher than it would seem. Set it on Mature buck grunt and toote on it a couple of times... Well probably 10-15 minutes go by, and my feet are really getting cold. I tell Kyle screw this I'm going to stand up to get some blood to my feet. He follows in suit. We aren't standing there for more than 2 minutes when Kyle wakes me from my day dream w/ a loud, but under his breath all in the same... Deer!!! Where I exclaim. Right there he points. OK, here stands this thing 80 yards from us at the edge of the trees! As I first sight the deer, Kyle states it's a buck! In my mind I'm thinking NO Chit it's a buck! I move to sit into the rifle which I had already set up for just an occasion on it's Harris Bipod! Doing so w/ a lil anxiety and anxiousness coming from Kyles voice, I was unable to do so quitely! The buck is know staring straight at me. Kyle exclaims, HE'S A SHOOTER, in the same yelling soft wisper! I had just taking a quick look through the fixed 6 power and saw enough to respond to Kyle w/, I can see that. Really in the back of my mind again I was thinking NO CHIT... OK, so here I'm going through my shooting motions when I notice there's a 3-4" tree poking out from underneath his shoulder crease. Those aren't legs, I think to myself. I take a closer peer through the scope, and sure enough there's a tree right were I had been zeroing in on. OK, so I move the scope up too his neck and then back down to the center of his shoulder and begin the hole shooting process over w/ this buck still staring at me. And, Kyle making his 3rd comment of the 7-10 seconds of chaos. "SHOOT IT"!!! I tell him, I'm working on it! Man, I was ready to shoot him at that point! BOOM, the rifle breaks the cold crisp silence of "Gods country"!!! He stumbles and scampers off w/ his head hung low. OK, now I'm chitting bricks. That's the first deer we've shot w/ our #! handload that hasn"t just dropped on the spot. We opt to sit on him for a half an hour eventhough we thought he was hit hard. During that time period all sorts of things were going through my head. Was my shot true, are we going to find him. Thanfully we had 5" of snow for tracking. I ended up finding lung blood after having followed him a ways, told Kyle to come over and look at this. He know sooner looked up and said, there he is... We both knew we had shot a "Shooter" buck, but when we came upon him, he was way more buck than I had expected to find...

That's basicly it short form.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

COHNTR

Actually that subject still raises the hair on the back of my neck. Don't even bring it up! :D I will forever be disgusted by the manner in which the CDOW handled the situation at hand... That's all I have to say!

AWESOME buck!!!
Good story too, thanks for posting.
Looks like a Canadian Whitey with all that mass, love it.
Go ahead and tell us where you shot him, don't you know we only care about muley's (wink wink)!!! :)
Congrats on a once in a lifetime buck!

Easy there Dakota...us tree stand hunters take offense at that. He was in a Texas tripod. (Which still does nothing to assuage the envy when I look at that buck.)

LOL,

Tejaz mi' mej'azz... This thing was as redneck, wrickedy, take your own life into your hand home built straight out of the scrap heap on the farm, POS... :D

Thank goodness there wasn't much wind that morning! Looking back on it, I'll be the first to admit. It was one of the more fun hunts I've ever been on! Sorta like shooting fish in a barrel though. ;)

Well done OSOK, glad it didn't take two shots or u may have had to change the name to TSOK.
As far as your picture goes you look much smarter than I had pictured. ;-)

Maybe its just me, but in that first pic at the top of the page I could swear that OSOK is flipping us off.
