Well, my son and I didn't draw Rocky tags, but of course you never expect to, either. Son didn't draw elk either, but he drew a youth any bull tag a few years ago so he can't complain.

I, on the other hand, drew archery bull for Monroe.

Yes, all you fine folks in UTAH are going to have to put up with this Kalifornikan come September. It feels good to finally draw my own elk tag, as the last three elk hunts I've been on have been tagging along on buddies tags since I couldn't draw anything.

Congrats, I'll be hunting at the same time just south of you!

It'll be fun to learn about this unit and do the hunt. I've heard nothing but excellent things about the Monroe archery hunt, so I'm really looking forward to it. As for 'hunt of a lifetime' it'll be interesting to see how good it is, as I've archery hunted elk in Arizona's unit 9 before, and thought that was like Disneyland for elk hunters. Hopefully, this will be close to what that experience was; it was 14 years ago and I've never forgotten how great that hunt was.

Great unit! Beautiful elk country, lots of four wheeler trails. Lots of 330-340 class elk. Some 380+ bulls. An auction rifle tag this year sold for 30K. PM me some time. I've hunted it in the past. Greg

CONGRATS........I live in Monroe.....that is my backyard!!!

I will be up there A LOT as my uncle drew the muzzy tag up there this year!!!!!

If you want to hook up for a scouting trip....PM me, I will be up there A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!

To answer the question about how many points, I had 8. I drew the random tag, as the fellow who drew the preference point tag is from Idaho, and he had 11 points. Next year, his buddy who will have 12 points will be applying for this tag, so he tells me.

FLEH, I'll definitely get in touch with you. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I'm smart enough to know a real good and nice offer when I get one. I'll be back there to scout this summer, so will definitely look you up. Heck, I'll even bribe you if you like albacore. Should have some fresh tuna before I head back that way and I've been known to share good fish with friends. ;-)

Just make sure it is SUSHI grade Elknuts, and I will find a bull and tie it up for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are welcome up here any time. Pretty soon we will be up taking pictures of the big bachelor herds on the Monroe. You can see herds of 25 bulls at once up there in June and July! It is pretty fun to watch. I can ride my 4 wheeler right from my house and be in elk in 30 minutes.......

I am in Modesto right now, and will be in LA next week.....wishing I was up there looking for elk!!! LOL

Keep in touch!

What the heck are you doing in Modesto? That's only a little over an hour from my home. I was in Modesto last week to watch a minor league game, as one of the players on the visiting team is a kid I used to coach.

I don't mess with Sushi grade tuna, we strive for Sashimi grade. Seriously, we bring those tuna in, bleed them as soon as they come over the rail and drop them into refrigerated brine within about 2 minutes of coming out of the ocean. They sit suspended in 33 degree water until we get back to the dock, and then fillet them and vacuum seal them right away. I guarantee you, you've never eaten better tuna. I'm gettin hungry just writing this.
