I finaly drew. Any words of advise would really help. I have been on many trips shed hunting down there but, never have been on a hunt. I will be on horse back.

Watch out for thunder and lightning especially while on a horse.

Learn how to judge a big 5x6 you will see lots of them.

Keep your powder dry?

How did you do picking up sheds in that area. If you got horses you have the battle halfway won because you will be able to hunt more ground and be able to move to new spots quicker. I believe you will see alot of nice bulls and you will hunt some nice ones that will score in the high 330's and you will see some big 5x5 and 5x6 bulls that should be taken out of the gene pool. But if you can Glass you will see alot of elk.

Take advantage of the roadless and enjoy yourself. That will be a fun run............

LAST EDITED ON May-03-08 AT 09:19PM (MST)[p]It seems that the books isn't worth the wait. The odds of drawing isn't very good and you never hear about the 400 inch bull gettin' pulled out, but I hope you change that! You probably had atleast 10 points? 10 points for a high 330?? Don't waste your tag on worrying about taking one out of the gene pool!

The good thing is, you won't have many other elk hunters to deal with, but you will have the deer hunters. Get in as far as you can, hunt hard and good luck!

I killed this bull in the roadless area last year on the rifle hunt. Just wanted to share the pic maybe get the blood flowing a bit. Its no 400"er but a good bull nun the less. It was my first hunt in that area but we seen quite a few bulls and had a good time. I think that mossback killed a 400" out there last year but I am not 100% sure on that.

Good Luck!!

My cousins husband was out there and killed a 370 6x7 last year, swears he missed a bigger bull on the opener. Her and 2 of my uncles drew tags out there this year. guess well see what they get.

Hey Jake H I hear you are the expert on the books. Love your photo and saying. Any good advice on where to hunt and scout for the muzzy deer in the roadless or roaded area? You can send me a PM. Thanks

I think Rathole1's bull scores close to 380? Yes! Long tines!

I believe this is your bull it has the same squiggly thirds on both sides, weird looking right second point, same distance between the left 4th and 5th on left side, same little hook on end left main beam, and same hook on end right main beam. I simply can't see the 5th on the right side in my photo.

This photo was taken last year on the archery hunt.

Anybody else think this is the same bull?

SWB,

That's what this forum is all about. Think how cool that is if you took a bull and somebody comes up with (and shares) on the hoof photos of your bull. Too cool. Thanks, Hazmat.

P.S., Awesome bull Rat!

my friends father in law killed a 400 plus elk in arizona and a guy e-mailed him a couple of years photos of his bull off a trail camera. It was pretty cool

do you think it is the same bull?

there is one other thing that makes me 90% believe it is the same bull and rathole1 probably knows the answer.

It looks like the same bull. I've also had someone email me photos of bulls we've taken on a hunt, it's pretty neat.
