LAST EDITED ON May-03-08 AT 02:56PM (MST)[p]Where are you from? The Monroe is a nice unit for a DIY hunt unless you are not familiar with elk hunting.
And what kind of a bull would you be happy with?

He is looking for a 370 plus bull and does not have time to scout ,that is why we were asking about an outfitter,
thanks

A 370 is doable, but not a guarantee. If you have any time to hunt, you could have a great hunt without a lot of scouting up there. Lots of bulls and fairly easy to find, but a lot more work to produce a great bull.

Bullmania, I'm just curious, what is the biggest bull your buddy has ever shot? I'm always interested when someone throws out a number for a really big bull if it's because they're trying to shoot a bigger bull than they've ever taken before, or if there is some other reason. What is the reason for 370+, as opposed to 350+ or 400 or whatever number you want to pick out of the air?

Then he'd be one of very few guys to have a real reason to hold out for that caliber of bull. I have an archery tag in the same unit, and I don't intend to be nearly as disciminating as your buddy. My biggest bull to date grossed 385+, and the only way I'll kill a bull over 370 is if I don't get a chance at a 340s or bigger class bull first. I wish him luck and hope he gets one of those monsters. I'll be happy with a great hunt and hope to get a nice bull but it doesn't have to be a monster.

I live in Monroe and spend lots of time up there!!! A 380+ bull is a lofty goal on this unit. Dont get me wrong....they are there! But it will be a GREAT hunt. It is a unit that elk are ALL OVER the mountain and it is a lot of fun!

Will be spending LOTS of time up there this entire summer!! I cant wait!!!!!!

My family owns property up there. There are some very nice bulls. Last summer I got some nice pics of 1 7x7. I had some pics of another very nice bull on our property, but my camera was messed up and they were all blurry. Email me your name and a contact # and I will call and tell you more and where to go. MINE is [email protected].
