I saw this on another site and don't know if its true ( for my sake i hope its not). They say the Elk draw is done and it posts in there system automatically. You can check it "by the back door".Go to the license page click on Habitat stamp and go through the process of ordering one. When you get to the end before you purchase it, it will show what you have on file. A 480 type number is the App. if you have drawn you will have a 580 type number in the right hand column.Like i said i don't know if this is true but it only shows my App number while others have said they have the other number also.Give it a try and let us know what yours said.

pretty sure it is accurate. Sorry you didn't draw oilcan. Looks like I got a muzzy cow tag. now just have to wait on the deer drawing!

Hey Oilcan,

There is hope. I just checked mine and it shows I have an elk tag for this year. However, my buddy and I put in as a group and his does not show a tag.
I figure it is all in process of updating.

Hey elk8272 thanks maybe there is still hope.Of all the hunts i put in for i had the best chance to draw the Colo Elk tag.

My wife and I put in as a group. It shows that I drew and she did not. Obviously, this cannot be true. So, I don't think this is foolproof.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-01-08 AT 08:56AM (MST)[p]Looks like I have drawn a non-ressy tag for first season rifle. My buddy and I drew on a party app. with 14 points.

Edit: Forgot to add...area 61.

congrats Dwalton i was hoping to be there also i put in for 61 Archery with 12 P.P. as a Non-res.Hopefully mine just hasn't been updated

Were the people in a group that show to have drawn the "group leaders"? Sounds reasonable that the "computer" may only know about the group leader so far if you put in as a group. If that is so, it still is not good news for you oilcan if you put in solo. Hopefully I am wrong and some people are just not in the system yet.

It appears that I have also drawn my first Non-Res elk tag (2008 - 581 Non-Res Elk) for first rifle season! I knew it would be a pretty easy draw where I'm hunting but until you actually see it in your file there is always a little doubt.

Wow, I too drew if what you say is true. 67 first rifle again. Two years in a row. I also saw my non res deer application there too. It seems for real. Thanks, I really only thought I was getting a PP.

How about Muley tags ? Would that be a 490 or 590 if you were successful ? Anyone know ?

Do you have to apply online for this to work? I applied online and mine is there but my dad mailed his in and his is not.

Shouldn't make any difference whether by snail mail or online, as long as you have the info needed to check.

Brian

I just checked for my buddy and myself. We applied as a party. Shows that we both drew our muzzleloader permits!

Don P.

It says muzzleloader cow,now I will have to see what unit.I applied for 2 different units.

I went through the process and I got "491 non res app."
What does this number mean? Also, how did people come up with the theory about what numbers mean what??

We are just assuming that they are number codes that the computer uses. I suspect in your case, if you drew, there would also be a 2008-591 no res elk. The real issue is whether or not you have the word "app" (application) after it. That just means you have applied.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-02-08 AT 06:53AM (MST)[p]I've got a 2008 - 588 NON RES ANTLERLESS ELK in the left hand column and a 2008 - 488 NON RES ANTLERLESS ELK APP in the right hand. I'm guessing that means I drew even though the columns are reversed from what has been said above.

If this process actually is true how do you know which of you preferences you drew?

To check what you have drawn go through the steps mentioned above. At the bottom of the 2nd page (after you have entered your CID) you will see the button "pick up awarded licenses". This will tell you what you have drawn. If you don't see that button at the bottom of the page then I don't believe you have been awarded anything. Again this is speculative and is a "back door" method so I would not get too excited or dissapointed yet...but based on what I expected for my application it seems to be correct.

Hey Caelk,

Care to share any intel after your hunt? I wasn't really thinking about drawing this tag. Now I'm hoping I don't draw Nevada elk. Good luck to you!

Dave

Way to go Califelkslayer.I guess they didn't want my 12 P.P.You can scout it out and fill me in for next year. The sad part is i didn't put in for the areas we were talking about for the deer tag now i probably will not draw the deer tag either.Come on Wyoming

Oilcan

Mine says:2008 - 581 NON RES ELK in the left column and -059 Habitat Stamp Elk License in the right column.

I guess that means I drew my7 muzzy tag as well. I also drew a archery deer tag too.

Erik

2008 - 581 NON RES ELK
2008 - 481 NON RES ELK APP
2008 - 465 NON RES PRONGHORN APP

the above is what mine said. now assuming the antelope would be a 58x and 48x to indicate draw/no draw, that means I didn't draw and I didn't, I got me refund check in the mail this week.

I had 2 PP for elk and drew for a muzz tag and expected to draw, so the 581 indicates I did draw and the 465 just the application.

Assuming all that of course

So when I went through application process, I had on file a stamp , and it also had 491 application on file, and it also said 591 deer tag? Does this mean that I have drawn a muledeer tag? Hope so!

Second choice Doe tag
Second choice Cow
Dang it, I thought this would be the year to tag out a nice buck.

This is a crazy year. I just got my Colorado second choice Elk tag in the mail today and the draw results haven't been posted yet.

Cali

Are you sure you received an archery elk license? The habitat stamp looks identical to a Colorado License. Just checking because my wife thought my habitat stamp was my elk license when I received it in April.

Also, I did not think the CDOW mailed licenses out until a few weeks after posting the draw results.

Interested to hear your confirmation. I may have to start checking my mail daily for my elk license that I know is coming. I applied in an undersubscibed unit, with the same number of tags as the last few years and I had a bonus point. Pretty hard to miss under those circumstances.

I've tried getting the Habitat stamp but keep getting an error message. My buddy got his tag in the mail but nothing for me but I should draw my muzzy. Just have to wait I guess.

Buddy and I drew 1st rifle area 49. Might turn out
to be a tough hunt (full moon) but I can't wait.
Congrats to all who drew a tag. Later
