will explain...

had a big storm roll through here last night, so wasn't gonna go this morn...woke up, looked out the window, 'looked bleak'..was contemplating 'other' things to do today...bout' that time my wife mumbled, 'don't forget to take your lunch'...i said, 'what's in it'? she answered, 'fried chicken and blackberry pie'...i was dressed and outa there in 10 minutes...
anyway, got to the 'hill'...had new snow and was starting to drizzle...was already wet. looked down the canyon and saw only two small bulls...was gonna turn around and head home. like i said, i was already wet and miserable...and it was about a 45 minute hike just to get to the 2 bulls i saw feeding in the timber..,said the heck with it, and went after'em...
i figured they would be feeding up out of the draw i saw them in, so headed to the top of it...stopped, figured i was 'close', and got the camera out...peeked over the brush, and i was 'dead on'...

this is the edge of the draw they were feeding in...

peeked over the edge, and saw these two...

then, something caught my attention to my right...i sat down in the brush, and just took a couple quick shots with the camera...didn't know what i 'was seeing', and didn't even 'focus'.....just 'clicked'...

he didn't see me, he was just eating...

then he moved up...

and...out he stepped..

"Roadless areas, in general, represent some of the best fish and wildlife habitat on public lands. The bad news is that there is nothing positive about a road where fish and wildlife habitat are concerned -- absolutely nothing." (B&C Professor, Jack Ward Thomas, Fair Chase, Fall 2005, p.10).

That going to be a great bull, Would love to see where he ends up, Keep getting those pictures LF we all enjoy seeing them bulls getting bigger and bigger.

MAN He is one pretty critter!! Great job Gentry. I bet that made your blackberry pie taste even that much better!

GO HARD KORE LIKE LITTLEFOOT

It must just be me but he looks like a young bull to me. Lots of pedicle, thin face, not overly heavy on mass. I say we let him go for 2 more years. Is it just me?

He's definitely an "OMG" bull. I could think of a couple other acronyms for him!!
I'm pretty new to judging elk, so pardon my ignorance; but how much more do you think he'll grow? The drop tine is awesome, and his fronts are great; but do you guys think his 4s and 5s will develop more? Both still look pretty round, so do they usually stop growing once they narrow out? Do the fronts finish growing before the backs?

All and all, it looks like he could live up to his name!!

He will grow to be exactly (within an 1/8 inch") a 356 3/8 inch bull...actually it's hard to tell for sure. As long as that velvet is pumping blood up that bone, he'll keep growing. It is apparent that he will be a good bull, but probably not a huge bull. About the only thing we can tell is that his width is narrow and he's not super heavy. He's already got 17-18" fronts which is awesome, but it's a little too early to tell just how he'll finish off. He out weighs his buddies by quite a bit, but he might not be with the big boys. The big boys I see are all big and hang in one group. The giants typically don't hang with rags...they like to be alone and are usually in deep.

Regardless, the drop tine and the long front end on this bull will probably get him killed this year.

I think for all littlefoots' efforts, we should put a 50/50 money pot together and guess this bulls score now. 50 of it goes to littlefoot for getting us all stoked with his great photos and 50 goes to whoever guesses closest to his final gross score. $3 entry and only one guess per person.

GO HARD KORE OR DON'T GO AT ALL

Wait..I meant 376 3/8ths. His 4s are going to split. At least that's what my crystal ball says.
