Gov Buck Pic

The guy that has it is with Mossback outfitters.Doyle Moss has been trying to get him to shoot the "General" out to camp williams, but he passed on him last week. He's coming down the wire, and I would guess he takes the Camp Williams buck.

I've been up to see this monster, and I can't believe the guy passed him up.

Im sure when he does shoot one, we'll all be hearin about it.

The guy that has the statewide tag would not shoot that buck at camp williams because he is a great hunter and he doesn't like the idea of shooting one out of a hay field on the side of a paved road. I've been involved with this hunt from the beginning and the hunter has not been here hunting and he is not coming to hunt due to personal committments. So you guys can quit worrying about whether we killed anything and I hope that the money raised from this tag helps restore the future of mule deer hunting in Utah. Thanks and God Bless

That's funny because he was in Utah last week looking for a buck near my neck of the woods. I have no doubts that he is great hunter, but what classifies a great hunter from a not-so-great hunter anyway? Does taking advantage of a tag that offers extended hunting dates and then hunting a buck after he has migrated down to lower elevations negate the fact that he is a great hunter? Does hunting a buck in a less populated area but in similar conditions (i.e. migrating because of weather and rut activities) mean the same thing? I am not trying to ruffle feathers, I just know what I think is right. If something is legal by the law of the land then who are all the masses of people to judge by their own opinions. I understand everyone has their own idea of ethics but legal is legal and if the situation that unfolds is a legal one then noone should question someone being a great hunter because of the opportunity afforded them. Just one guy's opinion. It's too bad there wasn't a buck turned up for the hunter before all this. Either way, I definitely agree with roperlt on one thing and that is the dollars genereated from the sale of the tag will do great things for all Utah's wildlife. (And it didn't even cost a buck this year.)

Three days left...we'll see what happens. It's just exciting to see and hear about great bucks. We are all on the same team...working for better wildlife management.

Bonehead' I think more people agree with you then are willing to say so openly on MM.com.....

Yes, Sharpshinned were are on the same team, so please disregard any of the jealous remarks that typically fallow the posting of a governors buck pict.

i'd take a trophy from the middle of a hay field in a flash. i fugure if it wasn't meant for me to get that trophy..he would'nt be standing there...thats just me though

Still nothing huh? I guess it's today, tomorrow or don't worry about it now. It'll be interesting to see what ends up happening.

Would I take a trophy from the middle of a hayfield? Yes

Would I do it under the current circumstances of what seems to be a circus on the Vegas Strip? No

That hunter, if he had the opportunity at the camp buck, and decided not to take it, he's alright in my book. We all know there would be a bullet in the buck if he wanted it. It's his buck now. Who knows?...couple days left and someone might change his mind...doubt it though.

I wonder.... Wouldn't it be amazing if the tag wasn't even filled this year. It would be even more amazing if the guy holding the tag never even showed up to try to fill it! If that ended up happening it would dang sure tell me that the money put up for the tag was sincerly meant to help the deer and not just to watch one BIG one tip over in the snow. I don't know for sure that this is going to be the case but wouldn't it be nice for a change! I know as of a couple weeks ago the guy still hadn't stepped foot in UT for his hunt. I also know that it wasn't for lack of a BIG BUCK and I'm not talking about the Camp William's buck either. I understand he had the opportunity to try to take a MUCH bigger buck and he's known about it for a while now. Today is the big day. Only 7 hours of light left. I wonder what will happen?????

I think I'm pretty safe in saying this much... I'm almost 100% sure that the Gov. Tag Elk will not be used this year. I believe the guy headed for home yesterday, (12/30). I've heard a couple of more rumors about the Gov tag for the deer though. I do know he's not with Doyle right now, hasn't been for nearly a week. I know that Doyle was working his tail off for him. And, I know that they've looked over some moster bucks! I don't want to say too much and then have to eat my words!

I have not heard yet, someone said that the Camp Williams "General" is still on the hoof, buddy of mine said his cousin saw is on Saturday.

I too would like to know if or what he shot? Any news, please post it here for us to read and or see.

No Buck,Bull or Goat were killed this year with the statewide permits. Thats about $146,000 donation to Utah's wildlife. Rest at ease my friends until next year.

The gov tag holders for elk and deer did not kill this year.. Thats a confirmed statement. Any rumors floating around are untrue.

I heard the anti's have been buing up some of the auction tags in the western states. Is there any validity to this?

think about that for a minute..do you really think they would support hunting by paying 80,000 for a tag only to save one animal??
Later, Brandon

It is a fact that the deer elk and goat statewide permits did not kill animals. I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT.

Cool, to bad for the guys that bought the tags. That's a bummer! I had heard that the buck over by herriman was the one that the guy went after, I can't believe that he didn't take the CW buck, he's awesome.

Well, guess he'll live for another year and we can all enjoy watching him again.
