unit 40 idaho elk

A couple of questions for ya what caliber of bulls should i expect to see on this unit and there is a small roadless area on the bottom of the unit any body been in there?Any elk?

I was up scouting for my deer tag a few years ago and ran into some guys that were helping their friend that had the tag, and they said they had gotten into them on Juniper Mtn. Are the elk still there, I dont know, but it would be intimidating because that is a massive area with the zones you can hunt. Congrats if you got that tag...Odds are way against you on that one!!

My wife drew 40 ELK AND DEER!!!!!!!

I had the elk tag 2 years ago..had the deer tag to, and I hunted 14 days....Glassed over 30 bulls, biggest would make B&C and push 390-400, but was impossible to get to, living in sheep canyons.(He was big for a reason) Saw 3-4 in the 350 range, and ended up taking a 347 Non Typical...There big and they are out there, but you HAVE TO HUNT HARD. I was biouvac hunting 8-10 miles a day and glassing for hours upon hours a day. Ended up shooting my bull 7 miles from were out spike camp was. This is some of the hardest hunting in Idaho outside of Hells Canyon and the Selway.
