Unit 16A

I hunted this unit last year secont season archery and killed a nice six point. there are lots of elk but plan on hiking and get away from the roads. lots of hunters but most wont hike.

hahah well sometimes you have to be assertive to get results right? If i were hunting it, i would try the northwest section close to reserve .... and if you take a map and draw a straight line from reserve to mogollon, then anywhere along this line should produce .... and remember to get off the quad. now how bouts throwin some advice my way?? pecos archery deer??

lol yea thats right. we plan on going scouting a couple of times before the hunts start to get an idea of the areas so we will be sure to check those places. Pecos deer? I have never been to that area but have had some cousins hunt that area and I believe from what they have told me they saw some quality bucks. I will talk to them and find out what areas they hunted. I am more familiar with the northcentral mountains of NM.

what does one post have to do with any question ask here? WHy does how many post you make have any difference in questions when all a guy wants is a little info.

I hunted 16a quite a few times before the non-resident quota was set. Find Devils Park on map and scout it out. A few remote waterholes with lots of country to hide a BIG bull. Glass, Glass, Glass and then set up on "hot" tank. Sign Camp Canyon may also pay off............

Just go to kill a bull.............Wait I have that tag and am looking for 380+. Where should I go,
I am new there any hotspots? PLEASE give all your secrets!!!!

sign camp canyon road will take you to devils park...the park is hot as hell and dry, aptly named...be prepared to fight with outfitters for those tanks...

thank you guys, I will definitely scout those areas. Is it possible to stick a 400 class or are my sights set a little to high for this unit?

Anything's possible, and that is a great unit for a chance at something like that. Of course, 400 class bulls are rare, but that's a premier area. I like the eastern portion of that unit.
