Some of my mounts are getting a little dusty. Just wondering what the best way to safely clean them is? One is also a turkey.

Thanks, Kicker

A dry Swiffer pad. Just go in the direction of the hair. Wipe the eyes with a paper towel with a little windex on it. I avoid putting anything wet on a mount, the older they are the more fragile they get.

I clean mine with a vaccum with a light brush attachment and alwasy move with the lay of the hair/feathers/fur.

The air cans work good on birds, just be very careful. The above does good with the mammals. For the antlers, you can buy a special oil that works great. It smells just like linseed oil, which would probably work but have never tried it. Before I used it, I used WD40. It works great. Keeps them nice and dark and natural looking.

The Linseed oil is what I use on the antlers, keeps them looking natural and dark.

On Big game mounts i use a duster thing to get the big stuff off. I then use this stuff called Show Sheen that people use on their horses and stuff like that before they show them. It works really really well. Its kinda like us putting lotion on i guess. Makes it look good. just dont get it on the nose and anywhere its been painted. You dont need a lot and always go with the hair. And I use WD-40 on the antlers just dont get it on the animal. You will be real suprise how well the Show Sheen works.
