Don't mean to rain on your parade, but the cow hunts aren't necessarily the slam-dunk you would expect.
The VC site had been quoting ~60% success, which is OK, but not as high as I would have thought. Last year there were several cow hunts with < 40% success, probably due to hot and dry weather.

My brother had a tag for the last regular draw hunt, and got one the first morning, it snowed a bunch the day before which helped us a lot. Due to the snow the success rate for that hunt was much higher than the week before.
It is a neat place and you should have fun, just don't expect it to be a turkey shoot.

If you can't find a cow elk there...hunting is not your thing.
