I need some help locating a good animal. I don't have the money for a guide, but this being pretty much a once in a lifetime, any help would be appreciated. So if your out and about in the Wasatch area and you see somthing nice, please pm me. Thanks for your help.

Have you been out scouting much? Are you seeing anything?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-04-08 AT 08:48AM (MST)[p]If you put in the time, you shouldn't need a guide. It won't be a matter of finding them on the bowhunt. Do some scouting and you will find out where the bulls are and when they are there. One piece of advice....don't be too picky with a bow. I would think twice about passing on a 320ish bull. Good luck.

It's always an adventure!!!

I had muzzy tag last year and had a blast I scouted a ton early season and saw alot of 300to 330 bulls early when my hunt rolled around I moved alot didnt stay in one place . when my hunt was over I saw 33 six points under 100 yards and 55 branched antler bulls great hunt I passed saw 18 of them around 320 335 and 2 that where 360 380 find the wallows and where there drinking get a pattern down and you will do well the big ones are there find them and stick with them

Congrats on your hunt Bigthree,

I would love to see a pic of your bull!

The advice given so far is dead on! I hunted it last year with my bow and I can promise you there will not be a lack of bulls to choose from. The catch is can you get close enough to them to kill one. Don't over look waterhole/wallows. Try ambushing one too. With the early start date, these will be great choices. Calling will be less productive but certainly not ineffective. Get off the roads and main trails. If you are not into elk, move. That is a huge unit and it is absolutely full of elk. My wife got really lucky and drew a Muzzleloader tag this year. We will be up there looking around. Hopefully a few quality bulls make it till then! Good luck to you. Be ready to hunt your butt off and have the hunt of a lifetime!

eyecrazy-

Wait a minute here!!

In the Utah forum, you dogged on your buddy for asking help out on the west desert elk hunt, now YOU are asking help for ANOTHER friend in another unit!

WTF???

LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-08 AT 12:45PM (MST)[p]Me and slam went out fri mornin i saw a ton of elk but only a couple of bulls the heat has them down and in the shade so they arent showin themselves however with a bow if you pass up a good looking 330 bull id say your nuts or really brave especially this year the amount of water will make it extremely hard for stick flingers lol just my .02 but what do i know i just live up there ;-)
