Some buddies drew 16B Sept 1 thru 10th. Have been to the unit a couple years back also 16E. Wondering how the boys have been doing in the last couple years. I think its a pretty good unit with some definite potential. Lets see some pics to anyone willing to share. Thanks for the advice and happy hunting!

I had the tag 3 years ago. Before they broke it into 3 hunts. A buddy went along with me. We packed in to the Lilly Mtn area.

It was the year of the Monsoon. Rained 6 days out of 7. A guy at a camp near us got lost. Spent 3 nights in the woods. Spent a couple days looking for him. A wrangler from an outfitter found him. He came out fine.

There was a big forest fire that year that closed the trails we planned to go in. Major water in the river which made it tough to cross.

With all that, we got in to a few bulls. They weren't talking much, but worked a group on 4 bachelors 2 days. Got back doored one day and winded the next.

Finally got into a big herd bull South of Lilly Park. Dinged him. No joy.

Left after 7 days of being wet. Didn't kill. Had an Idaho Moose tag that turned out much better. There were a lot of sheds on the ground, so I know they are there.

I'd love to go back on more of a "normal" weather year.

We got packed in by U-trail outfitters. Took our saddle horses.

Good luck.

Some of the best hunting is on the fringes of the unit. I'm not saying that the interior wilderness is bad, but there are lots of good bulls within 2-3 miles of the roads. Good luck

I'll be down on tha late hunt 19-24. We'll be on foot.

I've never hunted in B, only A & D, but I'm so stoked!!

Is it September yet?

My pops drew the late rifle season too. We're going to try to get pack horses for that one. Should be a lot of fun.

leftturnabq, I'll be on 16D late archery. Anything you can tell me that would help? Thannks

There's elk everywhere in that unit.

Find water. More remote tanks are better, but we've seen very large bulls drinking from tanks next to the road in the middle of the day...during the hunt!!

You're in for an awesome hunt, but don't expect to just call them in. You need to go to them, or pattern them and get setup.

Good luck.
