Colorado GMU 67 Elk First rifle season help

Anyone hunt this area before? I am going up the week prior to the opener and am thinking about the sawtooth mt area or where the continental divide meets the la garita Wilderness. This will be my second elk hunt and I don't mind hiking in a few miles. I have a 300 wsm and was thinking of using a 180 grain bullet. I'm not looking for a monster elk just want to get one. Any help would be appreciated.
