That's a fairly young bull. Notice how the pedicles sit high on his head, not out toward the sides and low like they do when a bull gets older. He's a beautiful bull now, but in three or four years he could be very, very large. His thirds are outstanding, but brow and bez tines are average, sword is average at best. Mass appears only average. He should grow some more on top but that photo was taken mid-July so there's less than a month left before his horns start hardening.
Would I take him? Depends on the tag I had and which year it is. Some years, I've been pretty picky, others not as much. The last elk tag I personally drew, I promised my wife I'd shoot the first 6 pt. bull I saw. I had a small 6 pt bull come in to a tank on 9/3, counted 6 points on one side and said to my self "You promised wifey you'd shoot the first 6 pt." So, when he gave me a good shot opportunity I did just that. He was a young 6x5, probably only three years old, that missed P&Y by a bit. With the tag I have this year, I wouldn't even begin to consider shooting the bull in the picture. BUT, to each their own.
