Contacting Private Landowners

I made a rookie mistake when purchasing my South Slope Arcadia #550 Antlerless Elk tag. This tag is right in the Roosevelt and Duchesne, Utah area. After I purchased it I realized it was 100% private property. I'm going to go scout the area a little and see how it all looks. I would like to contact some landowners face to face to see if they'd permit me to hunt on their land.
Do any of you personally know someone out there as a landowner you could refer me to? If not, what is your experience when approaching landowners about hunting on their land, because I'm sure they get the request frequently. And some guys probably aren't too polite or respectful when they ask.

Thanks for any info you'd have.

(Ignore my previous post that is almost identical to this. The title for the post was stupid and wouldn't identify very well what I was trying to ask.)

Look at it like sales: make 100 contacts for 20 prospects and maybe 1 or 2 will work out. With an antlerless tag I'd think your chances are much better. Some people will not take kindly to your asking but most are very nice. If they say no I ask them who they think might have decent ground that would offer hunting.

Good luck.

Bad part is like you said - there are a lot of turds out there who don't respect private ground and have no idea what land ownership is about.
