Elk Cooler

This year I will be hunting an area that will require me to bone out a bull if I'm lucky. Since I'll be solo, I'm probably looking at a 2 or 3 day pack out (depending on how far I'm back in). I've helped pack out quarters in the past but haven't seen one boned out. How big of a cooler(s) should I have waiting with ice back at the truck?

Sam's Club has a 150qt for $59.95, Rubbermaid brand....I just bought me one as I neede a new one....my old 120 qt went to Cali...in June and I do not see it coming home for another 11 months.

I personally like 5-6 standard size ones. Can carry by yourself and you can separate gear in them on the way in easier. Most small town groceries sell dry ice as well.

I use an Igloo Ultra 150 .I have hauled an entire elk boned out and still had plenty of room for dry ice. From Colorado to Michigan, 3 days and the elk remained cold and still had some dry ice left when I got home.
My buddy likes to use cubed Ice and checks it once a day and refills if needed. He opens the drain plug a little to let water escape as ice melts. He says it helps wash the meat.

What I have waiting back at the truck is a small 7 cubic foot (209 quarts) chest freezer and a 3250 Watt generator. I put it in the shade and run the generator a couple hours a day. I put some one gallon water jugs in the bottom to keep it cold when I'm not running the generator. Works great for me.
