If a bull is a 300 inch one year and the feed is very good the next year how much larger do you think he will be? or will he ?
Do elk typically use the same areas year after year barring any major disturbances like fire, man or cats?

In my oppinion, its totally genetics. Without good feed and moisture, bulls wont go to there potential. However, I know of a few sets of sheds off the same bull that hasn't grown an inch in three years.

browtine hit it right on the head. If the genetics are there and the feed and water, a bull can put on as much as 30" according to a few articles I've seen. I personally have seen a bull put on at least 20" in one hear.

It's always an adventure!!!

I saw a bull go from a nice heavy 330 bull to a heavy 300 bull and back to a 330.

Well....I saw a 60" spike become a 240" 6x6 in one year......so....about 180/year....how's that?

Lots of variables. Genetics, age, feed, condition coming out of winter, minerals. Was he a 300 under good conditions or bad? As a 4 year old or 8? After a bad spring or mild? etc.

Classic example of how much is doyles bull lucky his sheds from the year before put on 40 inches or so. its all up to the genes and feed thats it
